Best, user-friendly rental car company?

I know this is a common discussion on here but I can't find what I need by searching.

We're going to Disney from April 16th to the 24th. We usually rent from Alamo and use the kiosk. Last time we had a full size car but could probably use a smaller one if we had to.

Right now I'm finding rates in the $600s and just can't see paying that much.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

I prefer Alamo or National. With them I can pay online ahead of time and go right to the garage or use the kiosk inside instead of waiting in line. In either case (or even if I wait in line, which I never do) I can pick my own car whether I'm in their "club" or not. Lately they've been more expensive than the other rental car companies, but they are well worth it IMO.

I think National is by far the most "user friendly" car rental company if you are a member of Emerald Club. Hertz also gets high marks if you are a #1 Gold member.

That said, rates for my March trip are sky high and I was able to get $223 for 10 days back in the early fall.... our friends are currently with Budget because their prices were so much better...

Honestly, I think they are all about the same if you are using the counter......

My first priority would be price. I would research all the onsite rental car companies for the a fair price. Most have some sort of express program that you let you bypass the counter inside. While bypassing the counter is nice, it isn't worth paying a $100 more. Let us know where you get the best price and then the DIS can assist you in signing up for the appropriate program for speedy service.

Thanks. I usually start researching/booking a rental car as soon as I get our flights which I did in October. Things have been so hectic that I haven't gotten to it yet. I do usually book/cancel a couple of times before I settle for a price. I love saving money and I learned to do that on this board.

I do Emerald Club as well as a few other groups. I have yet to find that other than ease of car pickup and return, it hasn't helped very much when it comes to pricing. Budget has gotten me the best prices lately. I booked them, back last summer, for my April 14-23 2011 trip. I have a price of about $340 for that rental period. I checked last week, to see what it would cost me if I had booked it now...the price was well over $600!!! Glad I booked early.
That particular week is going to be very high as far as car rental prices go...it's vacation week.
