I htink I understand that you should pick a use-year that is a few months before the time that you plan to actually be at WDW. Is that close to correct? So if my plan is the be at WDW Dec/Jan/Feb, would the best use-year be something like October?

Since there is no November use year, yes, October would be a good use year. September would even work.

I would also say a Fall UY--Sept, Oct or Dec-- would be good for that travel time. Having a UY that falls just before your typical travel time allows for the most flexibility if you have to cancel or change a trip.

To be sure, December UY is also a great option if December is on the early side of your typical travel plans (e.g. you won't be doing many Nov vacations).

October is great for stays Oct - May the cooler months, after hurricane season, Halloween and Christmas are covered and so is Flower and Garden.
