We are allowed a 30 minute stop at Publix, is it very big? We are on DDP so just want water, beer & blue energy drinks and a phonecard. Can you tell me the best use of this time, would love to browse but not enough time.

Depends which Publix you stop at. The one our Towncar company has stopped at in the past is close to Seaworld en-route from MCO to WDW.

It's a small supermarket, but with plenty of choice. I think there was about 4 tills if that gives you an idea of the size.

Thanks Tim. Not sure which one but it will be on route Sanford-POFQ. Hope it's small though, so I can get round it in time.

Send DH to get the things you definitely need and then you will have 30 minutes to have a good look round ;)

BTW, I think you would be as well buying your phonecard from the Airtours rep at the airport. Seeing as you have to see them anyway to pick up your tickets :) That way, it's one less thing to get from Publix - we found the Airtours phone card to be good value - it lasted us a whole 2 week trip :)

Thanks. proberly will get the Airtours one to save time. Can you use it from any phone ie hotel room/lobby, parks.

The one near SW is small, the one in the LBV area (only a mile or two away from the other Publix) is larger but has a wider selection of items. That is the one I like.

If you split up while shopping, a half hour should be fine. Hit the bakery too, it's wonderful! (I am a huge Publix fan, and I have one I can walk to from my home, I really appreciate that!)

Yes, there is an access number you phone, then enter your card number. It will then tell you how many minutes of talk time you have and you then dial your number. It's really easy to use.

I also use Publix, good quality food-we particularily like their fresh fruit salads which we use as an antidote to all that 'fast food'. Try and buy a waterproof camera there,if you want one, much cheaper than UK.

Now racking my brain to try and remember if Publix stock them-Walgreens do definitely(chemist chain). Can any-one else remember?

The Publix in LBV (near the outlet mall) will more likely have them. For anyone who hasn't been there, it caters more towards tourists than other Publix's. That doesn't mean their prices are higher, they aren't - but they have a much wider range of goods. I'd be surprised if the bottled water that the OP wanted isn't outside in the front or inside near the front - most Publix's tend to do that during the summer, and I'd expect that this one would do that as well. The water should be very easy to find, anyway! The more touristy stuff I think is to the left, unless it's changed - I used to live near that Publix, but the last time I've been was a couple of months ago. They likely will have a wider range of sunblocks too.

I'd offer next time I'm that way to check on cameras, but you never know if their inventory will change. HOWEVER, there is a Walgreens right next to the LBV Publix (it stands alone, it's not part of Publix). So you can run into there if you'd like.

The deli is great, they make custom sandwiches. The bakery is awesome, the only thing I don't care for is Publix donuts. :) The store probably has more takeaway items (like the above mentioned salads) than other Publix's as well. But not so much like Marks and Spencer, I love the one in the Covent Garden area!

We can recommend the one near the Premium Outlet mall and Dolly's Dixie Stampede. It has lots of great groceries including all the stuff you want if you hire a villa (like the sunday roasting joint):lmao: brilliant biscuits range including lots of multipacks cereals, fruit and vegetable a fantastic bakery section ,and plenty of toiletries and beer/wine/spirits,lots of bottled water fresh juices and dilute squash, even the freezer section has lots of ready meals ideal for the microwave.I think they had papers and magazines too:surfweb:

That is the LBV one (I used to live a mile from there). They have plenty of magazines! They also do have more touristy stuff, and possibly an expanded British section, at least when I used to shop there it was larger than other Publix's.

Of course, you may not be looking or British items (I don't look for American items when I'm in England). I wish we had the McVities Taxi's and ASDA Penguins here, at least I stocked up a tiny bit a couple of weeks ago. :)
