Is there any time of year that there are more reseal “deals” than others? We are willing to wait in order to get a good deal...

I wouldn’t say deals in terms of price but end of the year into the beginning of the nee year tend to see more contracts posted as people decide to sell so they don’t have another year of dues,

Given the role of ROFR, that, IMO, is a bette guide of the market and for what people are able to buy contracts.

For example, right now, Disney is pretty aggressive with taking contracts at SSR under $100...last year, those were getting through.

Yea, like mine!

The only way to know a good deal is to watch the market. Watch many brokers. Check every few days. My instinct is that ROFR is making prices higher right now and that prices will go down when dues come out or foreclosures heat up in January.

But my opinion doesn't matter, the math does. And who knows when the deal you want will pop up! You need to know enough about the market to be able to recognize it.

The only time you'll see deals is during a deep recession. Some times of year may be slower than others, but prices seem to always trend upwards.

Not true at all. I bought in 2019, arguably the peak of the market, and I definitely got deals. There is always someone who wants to sell.

I bought SSR in 2017 and got them for $73 and $75 a points, So, I agree it all depends on the market at the time!

Not necessarily - keep an eye on the published ROFR lists.
I got 225 Points at SSR for less than $90/Pt, & passed ROFR in March of this year.
& Now I'm seeing SSR being taken at $104.

If you’re willing to wait it out for the right contract, you’re in the best position possible. I wouldn’t expect any prices to drop, however. Even during the COVID crisis, we did see a temporary drop in price on some contracts, but I think this is one of the great things about DVC, in that it maintains its value, even increases in value for the most part. My parents bought 150 points at BWV in 2000. 20 years later, the direct price is almost triple that, and resale prices are in the low 100’s per point. Sandisw said she just bought SSR 3 years ago at $75 a point, and look what those prices are now.

My point is, having patience is good in buying DVC so you can truly get what you want in terms of resort, points, use year, picking out a contract that is loaded, or stripped, depending on what you want, etc. However, while there may be ebbs and flows to the market like any market, the trend is generally always going to be an upward one, especially for the resorts that have later contract expirations.
