We just came back from an Amazing week in Disney. Absolutely no lines at all. Except for food. But I found out something amazing. Instead of stressing out and making a thousand priority seatings weeks before and worrying about making the seatings. We made one PS for 1900 Park Fare. But for the rest of the meals we decided in the morning where we wanted to eat and when. Then i would call and make a PS. It was amazing. we ate everywhere too. Italy, Sci Fi, Liberty Tree Tavern, the place in Living seas, EVERYWHERE. Although i am sure you can't do this durning busy times it was perfect for January. I will never make another PS again (besides the Royal Table)

We do that, too. We make a PS ahead of time for the character meal my DD wants to attend the most, but we just wing it the rest of the time. It works for us, because we don't eat that many sit down meals to begin with. Last January, we ate lunch at Crystal Palace and dinner at Marrakesh by making PS's the same day. We even stopped by CRT in the morning to look at their lunch menu, trying to decide if we wanted to make a PS for lunch, and had a seating offered to us by the hostess for breakfast (That's right; THE breakfast!) I told the hostess, "I can't believe the lengths people go to to get PS's for this, and here you are just offering us a table!". Unfortunately, we didn't take it since we had already eaten at the resort and didn't want to spend all that money for a meal that wouldn't be eaten. (DD had already eaten at PSB earlier in the week, so she wasn't too upset.) I'm sure it's not that easy to get same day PS's during busier times, so I would only advise it when it's slow, especially if you have your heart set on eating at at certain place.

This is a good tip for off peak or not so busy times but during busy weeks I highly suggest making at least a few PS's. I always make one for a late lunch as well as any character meals.

We tried to do a few walk up's and make some day of ps's in addition to what we alrady had during our October trip the choices were slim. We quickly made a few more plans for the rest of the week.

yes, this is true when not busy,I called down to make a ps at CRT, and was told they couldn't take PS for 2, but it looked like very few PS were made, and to just walk up and we'd have no trouble. This was for thurs when it wasn't crowded.
well, we did, and they didn't have any table till 245pm. we had a tony's ps that we had make in case, and we used that.. we just thought we'd give it a shot, actually because the menu was so much better than tony's.

I'm with you though, make the PS for the one or two very special meals, and then just go to the others as the days work out.
if you have your heart set on eating at a particular time and place make the ps.

I've literally called for a PS as I was walking to a restaurant. I called for PS one evening at Le Cellier -- it was 6:45pm when I called; my PS was for 7:15.
