We are currently in the closing process for our DVC and cant wait. We really like going first week of Dec for obvious reasons. unfortunately , closing will be completed after the 7 month mark. i think we will have a hard time getting a dvc (1 0r 2 bedroom) for this time so i would like to get ideas on the next best time to go. we have two small children (3yrs, 18months) and can travel any time of the year. we would like to avoid crowds (if possible) but at the same time enjoy seasonal festivities. any ideas on when and where to stay with infants would be greatly appreciated??? do they have any special times geared towards infants??? thanks for any help. :yay:

First, since you're flexible, I wouldn't assume that you're not going to be able to get anything in December. It is a high demand time for DVC, but that doesn't mean it's impossible.

But to respond to your original question, December is a really good time. Avoid the holidays if you don't want crowds, but the decorations are up and the weather is usually nice. We've also been there in September (still a little warm but the summer crowds have thinned out), October (had to dodge a hurricane), and November (hit and miss with the weather).

Halloween is great! You can go trick-or-treating in Fort Wilderness. Everyone has their campsites decorated (some are quite extravagant). The weather is usually mild, plus it's one of the least expensive times of year to go. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom is fun also.

I think you will still have a chance for December. We decided in late October last year to do a quick December trip. We booked a studio at OKW for Dec. 14-19. We had to move our dates ahead one day and drop one off the end but had a single stay, no waitlisting. We thought the crowds were somewhat light and the weather was great. Good luck! You will be having many wonderful trips as your children grow.::MinnieMo

I agree with going in October. You can go to Mickeys not so scary Halloween party at MK for the kids. They decorate the park and all the kids dress up. We did it when my kids were little and they had a blast! So did we! October is also the month for the food and wine festival in Epcot. My husband and I love it! October is our favorite time of year to go but now that are kids are older we can't pull them out of school anymore so take advantage of it now while your kids are little!
