Best time to go from end of april to mid may

When is the best time to go from last week of April to Mid May? Does it get really crowded at end of April with the food and wine festival? Is the 1st or 2nd week of May better?

We are going the 1st full week of May, I'm expecting reasonable crowds since Spring Breaks will be over.

I would assume that after Easter, April gets pretty good for low crowds. I don't know if there are festivals and conventions during that time. But outside of dates that might those would be better.

Mid May is an excellent time to go. I have gone Mother's day to about Wed/Thurs and it's wonderful. After spring break crowds, but before Memorial day/Summer crowds. Weather perfect.

(Does a happy dance) Now I am excited to see what it really is like as I am going then. I do hear good reviews such as yours about Mid May. Never been at that time, and so this makes me more anxious.
