Our son is set to graduate from college in May and has asked for a couple of suits for Christmas. It's been a while since we have bought a nice suit. DH company has been dress casual for years. It seems like Jos A Banks is always having a sale but, being budget minded, would like to wait for their best sale.
What do you think is their best sale? Is that the best place to buy a suits anymore?

Last year they had a pretty good Black Friday deal but I don't remember what it was. We bought our boys suits last year. Banks frequently has buy 1 get 2 free. But I'm not sure what the "best" deal is. Unfortunately, the MSRP on the suits has gotten SO high. So, your starting price point on the one suit can be quite pricey. My DH still likes the suits there. Hopefully you'll get lucky and not need too many alterations. That can really push up the price.

The sales at Jos A Banks are really good if you need more than 1 suit. Last year they had a great deal where you buy 1 suit get 2 suits free and also get 2 dress shirts and 2 ties free. But the cost of the least expensive suit was $600. So all that for $600 is not bad but if you need to buy only 1 suit then you will probably get better deals at other stores.

If you live near one, you can also try Men's Warehouse or SYMS.

I have to find a suit for my college age son- he grows so much (very thin, very tall) I can never find an off the rack jacket.

I bought a sport coat at Jos A Bank a few years ago. They had a BOGO deal, but I only needed 1, so they gave it to me at 1/2 price. It never hurts to ask.

I found great deals for my DH the weekend starting Black Friday through cyber Monday. I remember the deals lasted 24 hours but a new one each day. I did everything online.

DH recently needed a suit, and we struck gold at Macy's. I had my coupon, and they had a sale (Which is all the time). We ended up there because Men's Warehouse was too expensive.

Macy's sells the pants in length..aka no alterations needed! We paid abt $250 for his suit pants and jacket with zero alterations needed. We were quite happy with it and the selection.

Have you considered Men's Warehouse? My BF love suits and wears them a lot for work (lawyer), they have a fabulous rewards program there and which keeps him going back.

Watch thier sale section. We spent $150 on a very nice summer weight suit at the end of summer last year. If you order online they will still alter in store. DH is an odd fit so they always need to be altered. In the end, with alterations it was abot $220 for a $600 retail suit.

I bought a suit for our 14 year old at Van Husen outlet last week. Jacket and pants were $135 total.

And watch the fabric of the ones they put on sale as well. My husband got two in the buy one, get one deals. The fabric is so flimsy, though that he can't wear it when he travels to colder locations. WE have been buying Brooks Brothers lately. We get 2 suits for $575 and, unless his sizes changes, these suits will last a lot longer. He has 2 from 2 years ago at Brooks Bros (in addition to the 2 new ones) and they are in much better shape than the Jos. A Bank ones.

Thanks for all the great replies. I suspected the quality may not be the same as it was 15+ years ago when DH had to wear a suit everyday. There are so many more stores now than there were then.

It sounds like the best bet would be to wait and see if they have the buy one get several things free. We will also check out Brooks Brothers, Men's Warehouse and Macy's. I don't think we have a Van Husen outlet. But 2 outlet malls have opened here in the last month so I may check them out too.

Many thanks

Jos a bank has a great suit sale at $99 a couole of times per year. Sign up for their email list.
Factor in cost to tailor.

Thanks for all of your replies. We ended up buying from Men's Warehouse. They are having a Buy one get one free plus 10% off. We got their top end suits and they really look nice. I appreciate your help.
