Best time of year to go?

Hi all. We had our first family vacation to Dis this August. It was awesome. With that said, we'd like to plan our return trip but during another time...what's your favorite time of year to go? We thought about Halloween but it's too close to plan now and I don't want to take the kids out of school.

Unfortunately, if you can't pull your kids out of school, you'll be limited to spring break, summer, and Christmastime, which are typically busy times of the year at WDW. Spring break is extremely busy, and Christimastime is the absolute busiest time of the whole year. Spring break might be an option, since school breaks seem to be scattered over about a six-week period, with the busiest times usally being the week before Easter and the week after Easter. That tends to make the parks very busy, but not unbearable.

I would avoid late December like the plague! All families across the US have the same two weeks off, and it's horrendously crowded.

That would leave early summer. When do your kids get out of school? Luckily, the starting and stopping times for schools vary greatly throughout the country. Some schools start in early August, and get out in early May - a great time to go to WDW! If that's an option for you, I'd definitely recommend it.

Our schools in the Northwest don't start until the day oafter Labor Day, so we end the school year pretty late - mid June. That would still be a good time to go if you can.

I would avoid July if you can - there are lots of tour groups and it tends to really impact the parks and some of the hotels.

You might try going on a web site like Easy WDW (www.easywdw.com). They have lots of great info about the pluses and minuses of the different times of the year, and even have a crowd calendar predictor.

October is our best time middle/low level crowds, I do pull my kids out of school.

Our school district is super cool about family vacations during school.

We have been once in September, once in March, twice in December and are planning anther December trip this year. We take the kids out of school and go the first week of December(might want to make sure its not PopWarner). Love seeing the parks decorated for the holiday and characters in their holiday gear. It's definitely my favorite time to visit WDW!

The later you can go in August the better if you have to go during school vacations. Many of the Southern schools are back in session around mid-August so it helps lessen the crowds.

We love the Christmas holiday. It is busy but, we love all the decorations, costumes and lights. We have visited the past 6 out of 7 years.

Thanksgiving week


Should only miss 3 days of school. If your kids are healthy and don't miss and they do well in school, I say DO IT

We like mid to late spring. We went in January one year. It was a little chilly some days, but others were gorgeous. Line ups were non existent and most rides we just walked right onto them. The downfall to that time of year is alot of the parks (WDW and non WDW)are doing refurbs getting ready for the spring breakers.

Our last trip was in April right after the last week of spring break and it was amazing. The weather was perfect, the crowd levels were tolerable and there was lots going on.

Our next trip is next May I'll let you know how it goes

Our family has enjoyed the last two weeks prior to the American thanksgiving (we are from Canada).

The week before the American Thanksgiving is very quiet in the parks compared to the week of Thanksgiving which is one of the busiest times of the year.

It also has several Christmas activities you can enjoy (Very Magical Christmas etc).
