What is the best ticket purchase option for us if we want to park hop for 6 or 7 of our 8 days and visit typhoon lagoon one day? We will be taking a rest day or two in the middle of our trip this June. We are not planning another WDW trip for about two years from this trip.

Are the 6 or 7-day park hoppers plus our best options? From where should we purchase our tickets?

I thought I read somewhere that DVC members get a discount at the Disney Store or Disney Store online. Now, I can't find where I read that. If we do, does that apply to the advance purchase tickets?

Thanks for your help.

From the description of your turing plans, I would suggest the 6 Day PHP tickets. It comes with 3 plus options - those can be used for the waterparks or a visit to DD. The days and plus options do not expire so if you do not use them on this trip, they'll still be good for next time.

DVC members do get a 10 % discount at the Disney Store, but not the Disney catalog or online store. The discount does not apply to park admission media.

You can purchase your PHP tickets from the Disney Store (to get an advance purchase discount) or from one of the discount brokers. The DIS sells discount tickets (link can be found on www.wdwinfo.com). You might also check out some of the other brokers. I've found that www.MouseSavers.com has some good info on legitimate brokers.

Best wishes -

Actually, we don't get the discount any more at the Disney Store. That ended beginning this year. :(

Yes, we do.

Believe you have been mis-informed. Many Disney Store CMs continue to confuse DVC with the Disney Club. The DC discount did end at the beginning of this year, but the DVC discount did not.

I hope you're right. I'll be calling my local Dis store this am, since I just bought something there yesterday and was told they no longer accepted the DVC discount.

fkj2,

We have been hassled as well at the Disney Store, so I printed the information off of the member web site and brought it in to the manager. The manager appologized and gave us our discount on what we had purchased the day before. They should be able to just scan your card, but sometimes, the machine doesn't seem to read it so the CM assumes there is no discount. Because we are in CA, our CM's at our local store had never heard of DVC...but every single one of them knows now!! We weren't rude about it, and the manager took our photocopy and told us she was going to post it in the back room as well as train all her employees to look for it. Every since then, they take it without even asking a thing. Let us know what happens when you call or go in.

As a CM at a Disney Store, we have a lot of guests who are confused about the difference between Disney Club and Disney Vacation Club as well... This past weekend we had several guests who asked for their "Disney Club" discount, but when pressed really meant their DVC discount. So, while there are probably a good many CM's who don't know what the DVC is, there are quite a few guests who are confused as to what they are asking for as well.

Disney definitely didn't make it easy on any of us when they named them so similarly.

Also, you must have your card with you to get the discount. We can't honor it unless the card is in front of us.

I'm one of the lucky ones, I guess... I get to be a DVC member and a CM :)

You are absolutely right, Jill. I am a lucky DVC member and have been a Disney Store CM for 5 and 1/2 years. We have never had a problem in our store giving DVC members their discount. I agree, sometimes their is a misunderstanding on DVC or Disney Club, but all they need to do is show their membership card and it's taken care of. Newer cast members just need to be informed.

No. The DVC discount does not apply to any WDW ticket media.

FWIW, since the end of the Disney Club, there aren't any discounts for APs/PAPs anymore (unless you qualify for the special deals available to Florida residents).

I have never had a problem getting my DVC discount. I am sorry that happened to you. I do miss the Disney Club card. I took advantage in December and bought 3, 7 day hopper+ tickets before the discounts ended. I also miss getting the discount on-line.

I hope that we do get a discount on tickets in the future (other than length of stay). Time will tell.

Question for those Disney Store CM's...is there anything else other than Disney Dollars and Ticket Media that is restricted from the discount? Some CM's try not to give us a discount on movies, but when pressed they do it anyway. Just curious what the actual rules are as you CM's see it. TIA

Thanks, everyone, for setting me straight. I spoke with one of the managers yesterday and she is willing to make an adjustment for me under the circumstances, so I can receive the discount. And it probably is the similarity in the DC/DVC names. I had asked the CM(two of them) about it specifically and was told, "no," don't accept it anymore.

Truthfully, I thought we weren't able to use the membership card after the beginning of the year but I'll certainly not complain about an extra 10% off. Think I'll just "bank" the amount for the next trip.

I am not sure if they have the exact ticket you are looking for, but I have purchased 4 and 5 day parkhoppers at AAA. I am a DVC member and was a Disney Club member and I ALWAYS got a better price buying form my local AAA store...you do have to be a member to get the tickets. It is absolutly worth looking in to. You may also be able to get other types of tickets but I only get Park hoppers...if you are only going to one waterpark on one day, just get a one day admission at the waterpark and buy parkhoppers ( not plus). Do some more research and you will get what works best for you!.

Hope this helps!! Have a great trip!!::MickeyMo

I bought my 7 day park hopper plus tickets from Hotwiresavingsclub.com and saved a bunch of money over any other place I found them. Join the club and save money on your passes.:Pinkbounc

WOWWW! So much information! Thanks everyone. I will be sure to ask for my D"v"C discount at the store, but will look to purchase my tix elsewhere.

You were all so very helpful. We truly are one big happy family of DVCers!
