Alright so our trip is coming quickly and was just looking at menus and wanted to see what the best was to eat at the Blue Bayou....Thanks:thumbsup2

DD ordered the Buccaneer beef short ribs and they were AMAZING. I wished I'd ordered them-- so tender and tasty! I had the Tesoro Island chicken and it was ok, nothing spectacular. There's pics of our BB lunch on our last day, in our trip report thread, link in my siggy-- page 6.

Also, the gumbo is really good.

DH would say the Monte Cristo is the best. I think I got pork chops (?) one time and they were good but I was never raving about them like DH was with the Monte Cristo sandwhich. I did try a bite of his MC sandwhich recently from Cafe Orleans (which shares a kitchen with BB so it was the same sandwhich) and it was good.

I love the monte cristo too but it isn't for everyone...extremely filling. I also recommend the creme brulee! :)

Yes, and the monte cristo is rich. Although the one at BB doesn't seem as rich as the one I had at the mission inn in riverside.

I love creme brulee but i've never had it at the BB so i'll have to try it if we go there again.

I second the Buccaneer Short Ribs. Tender, falls right off the bone.

I didn't have the Jambalaya, but the wedge salad is frickin' D-E-L-I-S-H, if you're in to all that freshness :)

If you try the creme' brulee, PLEASE tell me how that tastes... I was too full last time to even order dessert (I pretty much downed everything that my table of 11 was too full to finish... Such a satisfyingly full day and DL :rotfl: )

I usually get the Pork Chops and they are quite tasty. DW has ordered the Prime Rib and liked it as well. Just be prepared that the quality of the food there is not up to par with the prices you will pay. You are paying more for the atmosphere than the cuisine. We are not planning on going to BB when next we visit DLR in January. All the same, if you've never gone before, it's a nice experience and I recommend going at least once. :thumbsup2

Jambalaya and the pork chops!
I always love getting the pork chops. You get 2 pieces and it's so thick; I always have to take leftovers home. The apples on the top also makes it sweet and yum-may. :goodvibes

I love the monte cristo but they refuse to serve it at dinner.

I was so upset, too, that was the main reason I got seating there!

OMG, COOKIE BOAT!!

Honestly, our food there when we went in September wasn't nearly up to par. Quite disappointing really. But the cookie boat for dessert was insane. I'm not a big dessert eater, but I coulda eaten 5 of those things by myself, lol. Really yum.

That's funny.... the same for us! we've been a few times, but not planning on this January. I really like the mahi mahi, and the crabcakes, and the shrimp remoulade (the only 2 appatisers they have) and the creme brulee, and the salad, and the prime rib...I heard they had quit serving prime rib? I did not eat all this at one time... but over a few visits. daughter liked the chicken but I found from my sample of hers, it was not too special.

I was disappointed this last time also. The Key Lime Pie was like something from a jello dessert box. The time before I had the short ribs and they were fantastic.

DMIL and DH had the ribs two different times on our trip last week. They just loved them! I had the Monte Cristo which was just as good as usual. Took half home thought because that AND a cup of gumbo is TOO MUCH. My second trip, I ordered the crab cakes and the adult Prime rib to split with DD. She loves steak and only eats that and not the potatos and grapes that they serve with the kids meal. So she had the steak I had the wedge salad (yum) patatoes, spinach and crab cakes. Perfect!

We either like the prime rib or the short ribs. This is not inclusive of the dessert offerings.

can you share an entree?? I am just thinking if the meal is big and we have to take some along with us that we really wont be able to since we will be going back to rides after dinner..

Yes, you can split an entree. There's a split plate charge of $4 or $5.
