My DD had a huge growth spurt. She didn't gain weight but for some odd reason on the inside of her legs she has stretch marks. She has been putting lotion on it but it doesn't seem to be helping.
Any ideas?

Unfortunately, there is nothing she can do (except stop growing so fast -) over time they will fade somewhat.

Help her learn to accept and love the body that she has.

Despite all the claims to the contrary, there isn't a magic cream that will get rid of stretch marks.

I got them when I was young and growing. Learning to accept is best. My DD has them too, she was really bothered so she tried a bunch of creams (strivecta - sp - $100 for a small tube) and we asked the dermatologist if any treatment was available, and he didn't reccomend it. Time does help them fade some. Some peoples skin is just more prone to stretch marks.

Best options?

1. Acceptance. Though they will fade some over time.

2. Surgery.

There isn't a cream in the world (yet) that effectively combats stretch marks.

I know she needs to accept it, part of life. But the kid swims and dives and is in a bathing suit for so much time and once summer comes she will be in it basically all day.
I keep telling her to keep her skin moist, wear sun screen, get the chlorine rinsed off etc....It seems like with the more swim time the worse it looks.

aw, I feel bad for her... I hate mine...but after 4 kids, I have to accept them. I haven't found a cream that truly works, but I know mine do fade with a tan... hopefuly with her swimming alot, they will fade some too

I agree. I've tried everything, wasted so much money to try to get rid of my pregnancy stretch marks. Nothing worked. I just had to accept it. I know it's harder for a young girl to accept it, but unfortunately there's only one option as someone said, surgery. Just tell her many many girls, and boys, have the same thing.

I got bad ones on the insides of my thighs and on my hips from puberty. They faded with time and aren't really noticable. Didn't get a single one when I was pregnant.

If they are silver already, nothing will help. However, I have read that dermatologists have had success with treating new ones that are still red. However, I can't remember how they were treating them. It might be worth at least checking with a dermatologist.

Poor thing! I had the same thing happen to me growing up, had a big growth spurt (and haven't really grown since then!) Actually, in elementary school I was too embarassed to wear shorts because of stretch marks (and I lived in Florida!) so I definitely feel her pain.

The only thing she can really do is wait for them to fade- they do, and then they aren't noticeable at all anymore! If she is really concerned, have her see a dermatologist, but I don't think there is much to treat them.

I have them as well--they fade and get less noticeable!
