Best Studio?

We are heading down to WDW next year before our cruise and wanted to spend 2 nights ahead of the cruise using points. We would need 3 studios (no need to get a 3 bedroom bc we won't need all of that space for a night or 2 and we can save on points).

Which studio would you suggest?

It all depends when you're going: spring, summer, fall or winter. Are you planning to go to any parks? If so, then you'll want to minimize bus time. I'd suggest BCV or BWV because they're walking distance to both Epcot & DHS. BWV being cheaper if you choose SV. The studios themselves are pretty much the same inside at all of the resorts. You pay extra for the view. We don't spend much time in the room so the view doesn't matter. BLT is walking distance to MK. VWL is very serene and woodsy - nice for a relaxing stay and only a boat ride away from MK.
I'd suggest BWV SV studio - best value for the location & the atmosphere. Plus there's a lot to do on the boardwalk.

It looks like you have three kids. You and your spouse and the three kids won't be able to stay in a single studio because you exceed occupancy. Depending on how you want to break up your family (and the others on your reservation), you won't be able to all stay in the same villa. And studios never connect to other studios, only to a one bedroom to make a two bedroom lockoff.

The OP said they will be using 3 studios not 1.

We will be going in August 2013, 5 adults and 3 kids breaking up into 3 studios or possibly a 2 bedroom villa.

I was seriously lookling at VWL for their location. BLT looks great but tight in the studios. We can save some points staying at VWL- huge plus is the location to MK but we have stayed there twice. ;) OKW would also be great because they have the 2 queen beds, but we have stayed there twice as well. I think I would like to save the Epcot resorts for a longer stay b/c we will likely head to MK for a day and then off to our cruise.

Any thoughts on SSR? How long to the MK on the buses?

SSR is probably similar to OKW with the transportation. I stayed there once & it was nice. The buses from there are quicker than AKV. Plus you have the option to walk over to DTD and take bus from there. The only thing is the room doors open to the outside, hallway is outdoors. Some people don't like that. With your kids ages this would be great - I look at minimum transportation b/c of the baby and all that comes with her:)

Yes, and I commented on if they planned to break up their family of five since all five wouldn't fit in a studio.

OP, you might want to consider the OKW two bedroom villa. You have sleeping spaces for nine and the two bedroom villa should be fewer points than three studios. Buses at OKW have always been good for me.

OKW is our home so we'll reserve there first. How are the pull out beds? My DH & I would sleep on that ;) we love it there too and the buses don't bug e too much.

I am beginning to lean towrds a 2BR @ BLT just to keep everyone together as well bc we are looking to only visit the MK on this quick trip. Plus having access to the lounge is a nice touch too :)

Thanks everyone!

OKW studios only have two real queen beds. No sleeper sofas. The one bedroom does have a queen sized sleeper sofa and we didn't think it was as comfortable as the ones at BCV and BWV. OKW does have the twin sized sleeper chair in the living room.

We stayed in a studio at OKW this June and it was a fairly good sized room as studios go. I believe they have the most sq footage for studios plus the two queens. There's a decent amount of room by the door for luggage too. But if it's only for two nights I'd hit BLT for convenience or AKV for atmosphere instead.

I think it depends on what parks you are looking to go to and what time of year you're going. If you're spending a lot of time at MK, I'd recommend BLT because you can walk there or take the monorail. If you're planning on going to Epcot or HS, I'd pick either BCV or HS, because of the convenience of walking there or taking the boats. Of the 3 I mentioned the Standard view at the BWV would have you spending the least amount of points. Personally, we prefer the Epcot resorts because of their theming and proximity to HS and Epcot.

each studio must have at least one person 18 and older - or you can't stay there.

if you are just talking about your family - would go for a 1-bedroom at BLT, AKV or OKW - or a 2-bedroom elsewhere. BLT and AKV have 2 bathrooms in their 1-bedroom.

all have king bed in master, queen sleeper sofa and chair bed in livingroom.

or might go with 2 studios at OKW - it does have 2 queen beds in each studio. (as said)
