We are considering a trip to Aulani at the beginning of the summer - it will be my husband, our nanny, our 5yo, our 8 month old and me. In the past, we have stayed in a one bedroom DVC villa in this setup- granted, the baby was 2 months old so he was not really a consideration at that point and obviously not mobile. However, it was fine - we kept him in our room and the nanny slept on the pull out sofa. Our daughter was thrilled to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor next to her.

Trying to figure out the best/cheapest way to do this at Aulani. It seems like the cost of two standard hotel rooms as well as two studio DVC villas are cheaper than the cost of one 1br. That would also give us a little more privacy, but I'm nervous about what would happen if the two rooms are too far apart. How do others with this many people handle it?

I would go with the 1 BR. I think Aulani has the pullout in living room(single) to sleep a 5th person. This would be perfect for your 5yo. My DD 14 slept in the one at poly studio and loved it. If the baby is in a pac n play that can be moved wherever. I think the kitchen and having the living room for family time will be much appreciated.
Happy planning
Kerri
