I am looking for great snack/breakfast ideas. We are most likely driving and can take tons of food with us (not that I want to carry too much around the parks). Would love to find some snack ideas for late June. Not too sticky, won't melt, won't make the kids nearly die of thirst, you get the picture...

Breakfast bars, trail mix, granola bars, crackers and cheese (or peanut butter)

Everyone has their own bag that we fill up in the AM...that way everyone munches at their leisure. We take water (and the crystal light "to go" packets), lifesavers, smarties, peanuts...we try to mix some "junk food" in with some better choices. The last time we went, my MIL pulled out a can of snack cheese and some crackers, and they were a huge hit with the kids. We sat waiting for Indiana Jones to start, enjoying our canned cheese and crackers! :woohoo:

Things to avoid...chocolate (it melts) and snack cakes (smashed beyond all recognition)...;)

We always take peanuts or some other nuts to snack on so that they hold us over better between meals. We've gotten the indiv packages and also a big can and some ziplocs - depending on flying or driving.

We love all goldfish crackers :fish: - both the cheese and the pretzel varieties. Breakfast bars are OK if you eat them within a relatively short period of time - if it's hot and you eat them later in the day, they tend to get really soft. If you want to go healthy, try carrot sticks or grapes. We also like Chex or Cheerios (or pretty much any other dry cereal) to munch on. Happy eating popcorn:: !!

My DD likes Nutrigrain bars, but they can get a little squished. Goldfish crackers are the best I think because they aren't messy. I also like the FiberOne bars, although they can get one a little gassy. :lmao:

PS-gianna2006, I love your username because my DD's name is Gianna:cloud9:

some great suggestions. Here's ours:

bfast: juice and bagels w/ cream cheese in the room. We have bananas on hand, some cereal & milk too. Also bfast cereal bars in case we're in more of a hurry.

Park snacks:
ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS bring fruit snacks. They also give a little moisture which can be helpful. This year it will probably be fruit gushers.

we like to have mini tootsie rolls or starbursts too. Takes some time for the kids to unwrap them and they aren't eaten in 2seconds.

Now that we do DDP we tend to have more than enough food/snacks in the parks and just bring this along for a quick pick me up while in line someplace if needed.

I was just brainstorming this the other day. Some other things that I thought of were:
1. dried fruit-- apples, apricots, cherries, raisins, banana chips
2. Fresh fruit or veggies-- baby carrots, apples (you can slice them and put into ziplocks that morning) grapes
3. Sturdy crackers-- wheat thins, goldfish, crunchy granola bars

We LOVE the no spill snack cups we got at Babies R Us. Even for my older DS because you can pack slightly more delicate snacks (like grapes) and they don't get crushed.

I know it seems a little heavy on the fruit and veggies, but my kids eat a lot at home, so when we travel if I don't pay really close attention they don't eat enough fiber and we all suffer for it.

We are planning to take grapes, pre-packaged apple slices (so we don't have to worry about them browning), granola bars (the hard kind) and some sort of crackers along with our water.

No one snack fits your description. Make sure you keep the kids hydrated with plenty of water. Salty snacks (pretzels, etc.) are good. Don't worry about the salt, they should be sweating it out. Fruits are good snacks, but are sticky. Granola bars are good, but they make me thirsty (which isn't that much of an issue, I'll be thirsty regardless).

We bring along bananas...great energy food and also from home "hop n go's" there kind of like a nutra grain bar but a little better for you.

One suggestion that I have not seen and my kids love are the individual Dole (or other brand) fruit cups of pineapples, pears, peaches, mandarin oranges etc... They are individual servings, don't get smushed, are healthy and don't make you thirsty because they come with their own juice.

We take crackers, some chocolate (for the room not parks since we go in late June), fruit snacks, candy that won't melt, gum (they don't have any in Disney), some kind of salty snack like pringles snack packs, pretzels, peanuts because you will be sweating the salt out, milk and cereal for breakfast in the room (its a time saver instead of waiting in lines in the food court you can eat and get on the bus early) granola bars. We drive down so we also go and buy food at the Super WalMart in Kissimmee if we need to.

We carry PB&J sandwiches in often times. They are a great snack. We also bring granola bars (without anything on them that will melt), juice boxes, ind. serving applesauce, nuts....easy to carry and not spoil items. We tried taking fruit like bananas and apples in but they get hot and yucky unless we take a soft sided cooler along.
