We will be going to WDW Dec. 6-11. We have resv. for the Biergarten on Sunday, Dec. 8. I am nervous about it b/c we have 6 kids total b/w my sister and I. SHe absolutely won't do San Angel Inn, although my DH and I loved it. I picked Biergarten b/c of the entertainment and I thought the buffet could offer some choices for kids. Please Help!! There will be 6 adults and 6 kids ages 9,7,4,4,2,AND 1. I really appreciate it!!

Biergarten is fine, very informal and particularly in the evening with the Oktoberfest band which encourages kids (and adults) to sing along and come out and dance. It is easy to please kids at that buffet since with German food you get a variety of weiners to choose from. Teppanyaki also good as cook may keep them entertained while sitting around the table/grill. I probably would not pick the San Angel (even though I agree with your view of it) for your crew simply because space is confined in that restaurant with tables close to each other.

My kids' favorite was also Teppanyaki. The tables seat 8 though, so you'd have to get divided into two tables, but that would work. One advantage of the buffet is that they 2 and 1 year olds would eat free, but perhaps at Teppanyaki they would just eat some of their parent's food anyway. Haven't been to the Biergarten, but we considered it. Other than the 6 adults having to haul food for themselves and the 6 kids, it sounds fun.

You'll be fine with Biergarten. The staff is friendly and very efficient.
We have kids who are fairly picky and every time we go back to it they eat more and more from the buffet. Just let them taste everything themselves--don't be like me the first time trying to "educate" my kids on what the dishes were ! I'd have been better off not telling them it was "weiner snitzel" as my son just refers to it as that good meat !!
As far as carrying food a distance, ask for a table on the upper tier close to the buffet if this is an issue. For the adults, you won't need much by way of an evening meal if this is your lunch. You'll be stuffed !!
