What are the best shoes for an infant just starting to mobilize? I've looked at Robeez and Rileyroos and Pedipeds..

high top white stride rites

My daughter has had 3 pairs of these and they are fantastic!

ETA:

Before she was ready for a soled shoe she had Robeeze which were excellent. I tried real Robeeze and Target knock offs and I still have the real ones for our next DD (due in June) they barely look worn at all. The Target ones looked pretty bad within the first week and they are not as washable.

We used Preschoolians, which have a super flexible but fairly durable sole.

It is super important they are wearing the right size shoe so when your child starts walking or cruising regularly go get your DD measured at Stride Rite. They will even do it at the Outlet where you will save tons of money. The hightop type white shoe is the best way to go. I used Robeez and Pedipeds till she started to be mobile. Dont skimp now it is the foundation of the rest of her life. Okay getting off my soap box. ; )

I have horrible feet so I made sure I asked the pediatrician what shoes to get - her recommendation - stride rite stages.

Bare feet!!!!

And if outside, the soft soled shoes.

It would be actually impossible to convince me that unnaturally immobilizing feet and ankles would actually HELP a natural process of learning to walk. So bare feet or soft soles only.

DS didn't have a hard soled pair of shoes until he was into his 2s...he started pulling to stand (on empty boxes) at 6 months!

We like Stride Rite as well. My son refused to wear shoes (or socks) until he was a year old, and he started walking at 10 1/2 months. He was barefoot most of the time and I think that ended up being a good thing for him. Once we got him used to his Stride Rite shoes, he has worn them every day and they are still in great shape. As a previous person said, they are cheaper at the outlets.

Thanks everyone! I did look at the Stride Rite outlet here today but wasn't in love with any of the shoes there. I know I want to get soft soled shoes for her though. Hence why I was looking at the ones I was looking at that I mentioned in my OP. We go to the doctor for her 9 month well visit on Friday so I will make sure to ask her as well.

I've always heard BARE FEET were best also.
My kids only wore soft shoes like roobez.
They were all early walker.
But Striderite stages are probably made correctly for each stage also.

i loved our pedipeds and had several pairs for our son --- he also walked in robeez really well also --- he started walking at 9.5 months and our pedi said both pedipeds and robeez were good because of the soft sole...

If you are going for soft soled, Robeez are great. They hold up way better than the Target brand. I have also heard a lot of good things about Pedipeds, but have not tried them.

Totally agree (although we had to use hard soled shoes when walking outside, except on grass) -- also, the doctor agreed with barefeet and so did my physiotherapist.

ie. shoes should only be enough to protect the feet. Bare feet are best to help their muscles and bones develop properly.

Please let your baby walk in bare feet. It is so important for their development (not just the feet, but the stimulation to the brain). My FDD's physical therapist said that bare feet is best for new walkers.

Bare feet are the very very very best. Especially on wood or tile and such floors. Their little toes still help by gripping the floor and shoes can really get in the way. Robeez or the Target knock-off of them work well once they've gotten the hang of what they're doing.

We love Robeez! They have shoes for every stage. Soft-soles which are like slippers, Minis, which have a slightly less soft, but still very flexible sole and Tredz which have a soft rubber sole mad efor use outside. The rubber sole is still very flexible.
