Mine at that age used children's chewable dramamine.

I have a kiddo that suffers from extreme car sickness but has never experienced any motion sickness on a cruise. Fingers crossed for you that it’s the same.

Meclizine, aka Bonine or non-drowsy dramamine. I think the package says for over age 12 but my doctor was fine with me giving it to him at age 8.

I’m a big fan of Bonine. It is a chewable, raspberry flavored tablet. The whole family takes one every morning, starting the day before embarkation. It doesn’t give me dry mouth or make me drowsy, two complaints I have about dramamine. Both my wife and daughter are prone to motion sickness, but we have had zero issues in eight cruises.

We talked to my son's doctor. He also found the sea bands helpful when the ocean wasn't too rough

I second talking to their doctor. There's some good suggestions here but if you're looking for any type of medication that's best done in consultation with their physician.

We gave our eight year old chewable dramamine for kids (approved for kids 2 and up). We also brought ginger chews, and those really helped when it wasn't so bad.

Children’s Dramamine if they start to feel sick, which they may not. I have two kids that get car sick who have no issues on cruise ships, but they have felt bad on smaller boat excursions (and we gave children’s Dramamine).

If they just get a little queasy, ginger chews and green apple are supposed to help. Also, make sure they keep hydrated. I may be crazy, but the only time I've felt sick on boats is when I haven't had enough water.

Just wanted to add my son gets severe car sickness but was fine on the cruise. However it was going from the ship to the car that made him literally sick. I would consider the children’s Dramamine for the car ride home or next location
