Had a recent check up and my Doc said my sugar was getting a little high and I needed to cut down on the carbs and other high glycemic foods and eat more salads. I always workout and would eat whatever I wanted when I was at the parks but I'm in my 40s now so I've got to start acting like a grown up.:( Could you guys and gals give me your list of best salads at DL/DCA. I'm still going to eat some tasty treats but most of my meals have got to be salads without any dressing.

I often get the salad at the Plaza Inn. That is what first popped into mind. :)

:wizard:

I like the Boardwalk Field Greens at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta in DCA, and the Crescent City Salad with Blackened Chicken at Cafe Orleans.

Cafe Orleans has a salad that you can add chicken or salmon. I love it with the salmon -- have it almost every visit.

Another vote for the Crescent City Salad with Balckened Salmon at Cafe Orleans. Although I'm not sure how it would taste without the citrus dressing (it also does have candied pecans). Both salads at Carnation Cafe are also pretty good, as is the Chinese Chicken Salad at Redd Rockets.

Another vote for the Field Greens one at Boardwalk Pizza and Pasta at DCA. So good!

We like the Grilled Veggie Salad at Jolly Holiday. We also like the taco salad at RDZ because they are good about customizing according to request.

If you're trying to cut carbs and sugar you may be better off ordering burgers as lettuce wraps than some of the DLR salads. Even without the dressing the apple and cheese salad, Crescent City salad and all the Asian salads have a lot of sugar.

Where would one get these burgers? Not knowing DL & DCA, I'm at a loss. TIA :teeth:

If you want a quick salad the salads at the starbucks locations look good.

Earl of Sandwich has several good salad options. Not inside the parks, but DTD.

I also like the salad with the strawberries at Hungry Bear. Not sure how much fresh fruit contributes to glycemic index.

Getting good greens is a vacation priority for our family.
We just returned from a 3 night trip (Memorial Day).

Naples had the best greens. I had BOTH an Arugula Salad and a side of natural arugula with our pizza. I was very pleased with both.

I also had a great salad at Napa Rose, but it was pretty expensive.

My favorite was the one at Paradise Garden Grill *cry* I wish they still had it. My mouth is watering thinking of it.

I liked the Field Greens salad others mentioned.

I have to admit, I find your doctor's advice to be a bit odd. I mean, I get cutting back on sugar and carbs. But I don't see why they would be replaced with salads. Unless you mean as a side instead of something like fries or whatnot. But there are a lot of non-salad meals that don't have tons of carbs. Try replacing carbs/sugars with lean protein and vegetables. They will be more filling and keep you going longer than salads. I mean, salad are great but all meals being salads? That's....strange.

My favorite salad is at Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen! It's the green goddess salad and I get it every time we go there!!!
