Hello all!
I am planning for a December trip to WDW with my extended family. For budget reason, we will drive down instead of flying.
Some of us are from Toronto area and some live in Niagara area. We are allocated 2 full days for drive down, and 3 days to drive back.
We will take 2 cars, first car has 2 drivers in 1 car and 1 driver on the other car. We can take turn driving.
What is the best route you know driving down in winter weather?
Where should we stop/stay on the first night down?
Any route to avoid? Any interesting place we should stop by along the way for breaks?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I’ve done it several times and always cross at Lewiston. To Erie and down. Your gps will give you the route. Going through the mountains could be tough if there is a bad storm. I do it with 3 nights stop so can’t answer that. But I am getting ready to head back to Canada in June with a 2 night stop mostly to get a car back. Haven’t figured out the stops yet. It will be easy for you to figure this out by looking at drive times on your gps.

We have driven down 3 times. There are 2 drivers and twice we did it all in on shot and the other we stopped for the night. This was never in winter though. I would recommend the Detroit route during the winter.

Is it the highway 77/79?
