Best route to Diagon Alley from entrance

Our first trip is coming up and I know my daughter will want to head to Diagon Alley straight away our first day. We'll be heading to the park in mid-morning. I know, I know, it's not ideal. We have a very late flight the night before so we will be sleeping in (we have four days there and we'll do early entry the other days so I'm not too concerned). That first day my main goal is just to get her a wand and explore, have a late lunch then do the rest of the park in the later afternoon. I plan for us to come back and try to ride Gringotts later that night after dinner, hopefully it's a little less of a wait then.

My main question is the best route to Diagon Alley from the entrance. I'm looking at the map and it looks like you can go straight back through New York and hang a right, or go right after the entrance and head up through the Simpsons stuff?

go straight up to NY, less people choose this route, it does not have distractions while walking, unlike the right side you will bypass plaenty of stuff for a photo op, sometimes there are characters down the street, while the other route is empty, usually only people heading to Rock it will go that way.
