I guess it would be a straight shoot on the Interstate, but wasn't there something called Western Way (or something like that) added recently that cut off some travel time?

Thanks!

The only way I know from Tampa to WDW would be taking Interstate 275 Eastbound towards the entrance ramp that goes to Interstate 4 Eastbound to Orlando. It's very easy to figure out & as long as you follow the signs you can't miss it. As for the other route you mentioned I don't think I have ever heard about it.

Western way you pick up if you are heading east on the turnpike so I don't think it has any bearing on coming from Tampa.

Head for 4 and drive east/northeast!!! Everything is very well marked in that area. Actually we did 275 to 4. It's an easy drive.

It will be our first time driving from TPA instead of MCO, so just wanted to make sure.

Karla, Western Way is the new entrance to WDW that can be used by those coming from Tampa, but not sure if would save you much tiime. Proceed east on I-275 and I-4 as previously described and shortly after you pass the US27 (Clermont / Haines City) exit you'll see the huge new interchange for TOLL 429, the Western Beltway. If you follow that north the first exit after you cross US192 is Hartzog Road/Disney World and you'd follow that into WDW. That road is Western Way and it connects to Buena Vista Drive adjacent the Coronado Springs Resort. The toll road costs $1.00. But this is only time-saving if you're going to the Animal Kingdom, AKL, Coronado and perhaps the All-Star resorts. For pretty much anywhere else just stay on I-4 and exit where you would have gotten off in the past, unless I-4 is backed-up and then the 429 would save time.

For those coming from the north on Florida's Turnpike TOLL 429 can indeed knock a half hour or more off the old drive via I-4.
