We are going in December and have never been inside the Grand Californian, but want to have the best Park View available. Anyone have suggestions? I imagine 5th or 6th floor (is 6th floor concierge? We are not looking at concierge). Other considerations are close to DCA Park entrance and laundry room (which I understand is on the 2nd floor by the DCA Park entrance. Anyone have good info on what rooms give best Park views?

Go to Tink's Travel .com (the link won't work for some reason) Click on Grand Californian Hotel. On the photos column on the right, click on the room floor plan and the lobby floor plan maps, to see what the layout is.

HTH!

We stayed somewhere around room 350 overlooking DCA. We were fairly close to the Orange Zinger. It was nice, because we could see the electric parade at night!

It depends on which park view you want. We have had the Condor Flats/GRR park view each time we have stayed and absolutely love it. I can't remember how many stories are on that side of the hotel, but our room was generally on either the 4th or 5th floor (not concierge). The best room #s for that view are the odd # rooms X333 - X355 (with X being your floor #). Plus, you are right above the GCH DCA entrance/White Water snacks in those rooms and you can watch the monorail go by as well. I'm not sure which rooms have the Paradise Pier view. Although from what the PP said, it may be the even # rooms right across the hall. Keep in mind, however, that the new DVC Villas are now being built between GCH and the Paradise Pier side of DCA. It looks to me from pictures that I've seen that the Paradise Pier view from the GCH is going to be obstructed by the new villas.

I would ask to be overlooking the Fort and River Rafting ride. I can't remember their names right now. If you are looking over the pier right now you probably will also have a great deal of construction to look at. They tried to upgrade us to that view and we gave it up because they gave us the wrong bed configuration. When we looked out the window all we saw was dirt and bulldozers. If they put you on the side that is by soaring you'll have a nice view, but a really long walk to your room. The rooms that are over Napa Rose are the best for us because they are close to the elevators and have a great view.
