If i wanted to ride rides when these are exploding overhead....which rides would you ride & any tips on when during the shows to board?

I'm guessing BTMRR & Matterhorn....others?

edit - i guess fantasmic is water / laser type show...but any advice would be welcomed.

Also anything to avoid (ropes preventing me from crossing etc.)

Thanks!

We had the best luck riding Nemo during Fantasmic and the Fireworks.. Hardly any wait at all. We totally avoid anything near New Orleans square and adventureland. It's just too crowded :crowded:

I'm not riding Nemo again until Clinton is President......

What about the Railroad?? Anybody ride the railroad during Fantasmic or Fireworks?

Can you see Fantasmic from Big Thunder?

Not sure about big thunder... It could be possible, but it seems difficult from that angle.

I may be wrong, but I thought that the railroad didn't run during the fireworks?? We tried to catch them towards the end of the fireworks in NOS and the conductor said told us that they weren't running. We decided to walk back to mainstreet instead..

Please someone correct me if I am wrong...

I've ridden BTMRR while F! was playing and while RDCT was playing. I really didn't notice anything while F! was playing, but really enjoyed my ride with Remember fireworks going off overhead. I also have enjoyed Splash Mtn. while the fireworks were going off. I would think t-cups would be fun with the fireworks going and I have heard that if you time it just right, you can watch the fireworks while on Storybook (now that would be really cool, but your timing would have to be dead on).

Have fun Hound! You're missing us ladies by a week (I bet you intended that, didn't ya?) ;)

This is one of my fondest memories from DL as a kid.. My mom, dad, sister and I had our own boat and the best view of the fireworks overhead... Our CM was wonderful and even stopped the boat for us..

I'm confused.....i thought BillyFan said Storybookland is closed during the fireworks.

Is there an "official list" of rides closed during the fireworks?

(heck i bet that elephant ride & ill placed spaceship orbiter would be cool during the fireworks.....why do i just know that they'll not be running during the show?)

I did BTMRR in WDW during the fireworks (which are much further away fwiw) & it was VERY cool.

OK....I'm back to BTMRR or Matterhorn unless i hear some other good ideas.

& fwiw RDCT fireworks are at 9:25 & Fantasmic is at 9:00 & 10:30 that night. (seems odd?)

& DM....I'd rather be running around with (& into) cool dis'er chicks........than 10,000 cheerleaders. :scared1:

I was wondering if Splash Mountain is open during the fireworks and if it is, can you see them? :tink:

I saw the fireworks with my girls on the storybook boats a few years ago. I was one of our best DL memories ever! It would be impossible to plan it (because you have to be right in a boat at the perfect time to have them stop the boat and watch).

They warned us while we were in line that we may be "stopped on the boat" if the fireworks start. I thought it sounded kind of bad the way they said it, but little did I know it is the best thing ever! We had a great skipper, and when the first firework popped she said thats it and cut the motor. We came to a quiet stop in the the canal, and had the perfect view! She narrated the whole thing, and pointed out Tink who we had a great view of.

So they "close down storybook boats" in a way--they stop the boats when the fireworks fly, and then start them back up when it is over. It is an incredible Disney experience!

When we were in the park last April, we rode Matterhorn (FL side) during the fireworks, and it was incredible! When we got off, all of FL was roped off until about five minutes after the show. At that point, there was a mad dash to the rides.

But now that I think of it, I can't confirm with absolute certainty that Storybookland was actually closed. I would ask a CM at that attraction during the day if they close it, just to be sure. I'll feel really bad if I gave you bum advice!

We had this happen on a trip a few years ago, too. It was so cool and we had a great skipper who also told us where to look to see Tink fly. It was definitely one of those great Disney magic moments for us. :lovestruc

When we were there two weeks ago... ALL of Fantasyland was closed during the Fireworks. Not sure if that included the Matterhorn or not, there were so many people we did not even attempt to make it over that way. The railroad was closed as well. If you can get over to New Orleans Square and ride Pirates, HM and Splash... they were all walk ons during F! and the works. (oh and the Jungle Cruise as well ;))HOWEVER after F! that area is a mad house! Either try and get out of there before F! is over... or plan on hanging out in that area until the crowd clears.
The train starts up about 15 min after the works and F! is done.

How cool. You get to see the fireworks from the boat AND see the neat ride.

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2

I'm going to be back there deciding on the Matterhorn or Storybook....great info. :thumbsup2 I'll let you know which way we go.

Thanks for the info TortugaVerde.....what night of the week was this? Maybe it will be less crowded at 9:30 on a Sunday night?

I'm thinking that having FPs for Buzz, SM & Roger Rabbit would be handy (during that time) since they are nearby & it would minimize the crowds on our touring.

& based on what some of you are saying.....If i'm over near RR & the Matterhorn & the fireworks begin.......I can't head over towards Big Thunder Mt. RR?

This was every night we were there during spring break craziness. So, I am sure it could be less crowded when you are there.

Yes, you could go from RR/Matterhorn over to Big Thunder during the works/F! however... if crowds are big, make sure you get through the firework/F! area BEFORE the show is over. Afterwards is crazy (until everyone heads to the gates to go home ;)) I am not sure if you can go that way via Fantasyland or not. We were told the area was closed... so we just avoided it all together during the show. We would pick an area to enjoy... and stayed there until the crowds cleared.

I believe that tortugaverde is correct in posting that all of Fantasyland is closed during the fireworks. That's because in Remember...Dreams Come True, there are a lot of pyro effects/fireworks around the castle itself. This may not have been the case in previous fireworks shows, e.g. Believe...There's Magic in the Stars. Previous iterations of the fireworks may not have the same launch locations and pyro effects as the current show. I think this is probably why several posters were able to ride some Fantasyland rides during the fireworks.

However, the Matterhorn is definitely open. And I would try the Nemo subs too. Enjoy your trip! I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Thunder Mountian is awesome at WDW - MK during the fireworks, but have never been on it during the ones at DL. If you are comfortable w/ CA Screamin' (ridden multiple times & know the ride well), I think that is the best to ride at night. You can see so much of both of the parks - really looks like a postcard all lit up!

I agree that Splash Mountain is a good ride during the Fireworks. It has a good view during the times you're outside.

But Splash Mountain is awesome anytime! It's my favorite ride!

DD rode Splash last Friday night when she was there with friends. They rode it 3 times in a row during Fantasmic and, never even having to get off the ride! :cool2: Plus they could see it some, and hear it. But once Fantasmic was over, they had to get off- and she said the line was crazy long.
