We originally wanted to do a Character Lunch at a resort for our last day, but there aren't any. So instead of eating somewhere we've already been to, I thought it would be a nice change to actually leave Disney property and eat somewhere.

WARNING: I have never done this before, we have never ventured outside the walls of Disney. So any advice (and directions) would be greatly appreciated.

Every once in a while on our trips we split and stay on I drive for a few days usually for shopping and if we want to do Universal or Sea World. I Drive is really easy to get to and hooks up with EVERY major freeway. We like the following:

Bahama Breeze - this is the flagship restaurant for this chain. We now have one about 2-3 miles from our house, so you may, too. Think conch fritters and island cooking while listening to steel drum music.

One of the best Chinese restaurants I've ever been to is on I Drive and it is called MING COURT. It is HUGE, wonderfully decorated and the food is great! Lunch there is inexpensive with wonderfully sized portions.

Cafe Tu Tu Tango....this is a small chain. The menu is built on the grazing concept. Small portions for sharing. This has the added feature of having artists and artwork all over. Walking through this place is like going to a small art fair...plus...almost everything is for sale. I've only been there at night but they always have artists actually making art, fortune tellers and 'street' entertainment. I've seen poetry readings and hula dancers on the same night.

These are just a few of the ones we've been to....if you haven't been to the outlets on I Drive...you might want to leave a little early and run to Belz before lunch. There are two Disney Outlet stores there with great deals. Caution: leave room in your suitcase or you'll be carrying the bags home!!

On I-Drive these are my favourites:

The Olive Garden - OK I know these are everywhere for you guys in the States but I love this place, we just don't have anything that comes near it, chainwise, in the UK.

Crab House - Great crab and service

More votes here for the ecletic Cafe Tu Tu Tango and the tropical Bahama Breeze (also one of these on the 192)

B-Line Diner at the Peabody Hotel - a decadent "diner" experience

Darryl's - has the best twice baked mashed potato I've ever had the pleasure of eating.

Other locations:

Jungle Jims at Crossroads is also supposed to be good but I still haven't eaten here.
