Best resort for children

Next August, I may be taking my nieces to WDW. It would be our first visit. What resort would be the best for 10 and 13 year olds? We would be there for one full week. They love swimming and I love comfort. Convenience is the key. Thanks!

Hmmm....I would have to say this depends on what the children are into. I think PC is good for kids, but AS Movies and Stars can be, too. POFQ is good for kids and CSR can be good for them because they usually don't mind the walking as much. CSR has a grown-up feel to it, but a setting that could be found pleasing to a teen and pre-teen.

A lot of it depends on how much money you are willing to spend. The All-Stars are the least expensive and Grand Floridian is probably the most expensive. There are lots of good options in between.

I would recommend staying at one of the Epcot area resorts. You can walk to Epcot and MGM, or take a boat. You are also right by the Boardwalk, which is a fun place for older kids. The Beach/Yacht Club and the Boardwalk Inn are deluxe resorts in that area. BC/YC has the best pool in all of WDW. Right next to the Boardwalk and YC/BC are the Swan/Dolphin sister hotels. They are NOT owned by Disney, but have all the benefits of Epcot location. They are still considered deluxe hotels, but they have some great rates. One way or another you can usually get a standard room there for about $149/night, and often times less. They have a teacher/govt./nurse discount as well as AAA and Allearsnet.com discounts. Right now they have a DIS $139 rate. There's lots of info. here on the board about the S/D if you want to read more.

Our family (3 kids: 4, 6, 15) all loved PC. It was inexpensive (which for us was good because we didn't spend too much time there) but the theming was great fun and the kids really liked it.
