Looking for suggestions for a resort or our family. There will be 4 adults, 2 college age boys and 6 year old boy and an infant. Looking at spending more time at the resort than in the parks. Planning on going in the middle of May. Leaning towards a two bedroom or possibly 2 studios.

I say Boardwalk or Beach Club. Lots to do in the area that doesn't involve the parks.
My second would be Wilderness Lodge as there is stuff there and at the camp ground to do w/o going to a park.

Anyone else?

is your family into animals? if so then AKV - it is far enough away from the parks - that you should not even be tempted.

otherwise would go with OKW or SSR - both are far from the parks - but in some places you can see the fireworks. plus they are both very close to DS (was DD) - so you can go there - plus they have both have activities (well all DVC resorts have activities) - some are free others only cost a few dollars.

We just returned from a trip and stayed in the BCV. The BC is great for the pool area and location on the boardwalk offers options too. We had two high school age, two middle school, and two five year olds in our party and they all loved the resort. We actually cancelled a couple of evening plans for them to spend more time at the resort.

My vote would be SSR. Love being able to walk to Disney Springs....so much to do for any age! My little ones love the pool there too and splash pad area.

I would say BCV. Because of the pool and proximity to all therevis in that area.... You can always take the bus for a short ride to DS.

I would vote for SSR because of the college age guests. I am not sure a THV would work for your party as the third bedroom has only bunkbeds that are too small for many adults. Although the college kids could sleep in the living room and the child and infant in the bunkbed room (infant in a pack 'n play), child on lower bunk. But with that many guests, I would suggest a resort that has three bathrooms in a 2BR and that would AKV-Kidani or BLT. BLT or VGF (split bathroom) might be a nice choice because with the monorail you are easily connected to the Poly (which is also walking distance from VGF), BLT and VGF. Also WL is a boat ride away from BLT or MK.

I wouldn't recommend staying at VWL right now due to the construction of the quiet pool near VWL and the beach and lake front construction of buildings (restaurant and lake side cabins).
