Best Rate ??

Is this right?....We cannot check the AP Best Rate rates and availability without already having an AP or at least a voucher? So we can't make an informed decision about whether we should or should not buy an AP?!! If this is the case, Disney is missing the boat. We are going in Jan 2006 (we have AAA room only booked through WDW), but if I could get a better AP rate so that I then bought an AP, we would probably go back in June. Without an AP rate for Jan necessitating an AP, we won't go back for at least another year. I don't get why Disney doesn't even want us checking the rates without an AP. OR am I the one missing the boat and there is a way to check?? If there is, let me know.

You are correct, in order to get the best rate you have to have an activated AP or a voucher in hand.

Rumor has it that there will be AP rates the old fashioned way, by call in and you can check once those are released but there is nothing past Oct 4th for those as of yet.
Mousesavers.com will tell if there is anything out and what the discount/rates are.

Where are you staying? I am actually paying 2 more a night with my AAA rate then with the AP best rate. I am staying value though.

We're staying at the CR in a wing room. This may be the last time we can do this (unless we go again sooner than I think we will go). My 4th child is a toddler and we will need 2 rooms or a cabin soon. 2 rooms will mean a value or mod with a discount. But I've heard so many stories of folks not getting connecting rooms that this idea scares me. (Oh well that's another topic!!)

We were in a wing at CR last Oct. We weren't thrilled with the theming of the whole resort but the location can't be beat!!

Are the numbers I need for the "best rate" booking at the voucher?
What will happen when I book the "best rate" using that voucher?
Will it be activated at the time I book the rooms? (would mean I will loose at least 120 days of the AP?
Or can I use the numbers at the voucher for booking and I have to (can) activate the voucher when I start my holiday?

Hi Renate - I just bought an AP and got my voucher number the next day by calling Disney. (The actual voucher came about a week later in the mail.)

You can use the voucher number to book a room with the best rate program. The voucher will not be activated until you activate it at Disney.

For example, I booked under the Best Rate program for our December trip. I will activate my AP when we get there in December, and it will be good for one year from that date.

You are supposed to show an activated AP at check-in to get the Best Rate, or they will charge you rack rate.

I know it was asked before...but where can I activate the AP? only DTD and at the parks or at the airport as well?

Or what will be the best way to do when arriving by plane and ME?
