I'm looking to rent an SUV or Minivan to hold 4 adults and a 1 year old in car seat along with our luggage. MCO or within a shuttle ride.

So far the best price I have found is at Thrifty.

Jeep Liberty
(or similar)
Mid-Size, SUV, Automatic, A/C
x5

1 week @ $148.79/week with Unlimited Miles; 3 extra days @ $23.75/day with Unlimited Miles

*TOTAL BASE RATE (USD)
$220.04

I got this price with no coupons. Even after trying some, the price was the same although there might have been additional driver included (according to the MouseSavers website).

Anybody able to find a better deal. Picking up around 12 Noon on the 29th and dropping off around 8 a.m. on Feb. 8th.

Haven't had much luck with coupons as most seem to expire at the end of 2006 or just don't lower the price.

Anybody know if you get an additional driver added, do they have to be there when you are picking up the vehicle ? Or if needed, could I get a scan of his driver's license ?

I'm tempted to book the Liberty for the price I got on Thrifty but I'll wait a bit and see if you guys can point me to a better deal. Any idea when the coupons for 2007 come out ? I know there are a couple out but not many.

Final question, I'll be booking with Visa Aerogold. Here is what I found on the website: VISA Auto Rental Collision/Loss Damage Insurance
Is this enough or do I need additional insurance ? I'm hoping not since we are on a tight budget and insurance is so expensive. I'm checking out the agreements on the website now. Sorry for so many questions ! :teacher:

Also, Thrifty charges $8 per day for the 2nd driver.....and yes you do have to be there to sign up and show your drivers license and they may require a credit card from the 2nd driver as well. If he's not there, you'd have to drive back to the Thrifty location to sign him up on a later date.

Check with your credit card just to be sure they cover an SUV or VAN, some only cover cars but most cover anything up to a regular sized van. Also if you have car insurance on your car at home, this will be the coverage that they use if you have an accident, the credit card will just be secondary additional coverage. So bring a copy of your home insurance card with you.

To check on your Visa coverage call (800) 847-2911, Mastercard (800) 622-7747

I would go ahead an book a full size car with Thrifty just so that you have something locked in. It is cancellable and they don't take your Visa number up front. Book while rates are down, wait for something better to come up later. I think the full size Magnum is just as big as the Jeep Liberty so I wouldn't pay the extra $20 for the Liberty.

I was able to get this for a week for a cherokee a week early than you are renting and I found thirfty to be the cheapest. I would reserve the car and then you can always cancel. Rental car rates can change rapidy! Reserve now and you can always cancel if you found a better deal. But this is pretty good!

Oh my, you're right about the rates changing fast. I was going to book today as you have recommended but the price of the Liberty went up $100 to $320. The Magnum is up around $45 to $225. That still seems decent for a full size car. But sucks that is was $180 just a couple of days ago.

I think I'll just wait now. Hopefully the deals for early 2007 come out soon.
