We finally have time and the right ladder this year to put lights on the house. We have been looking for outdoor string lights and oof! The price is steep. Add to that that apparently what we need, white wire with colored bulbs, straight string (not icicle) is either not carried in the stores we've been to, or the selection is small. And forget about finding ones that stay lit if one bulb goes out. Sheesh! When did this get so complicated?! ;)

I thought going online was the answer, but I've actually found fewer choices offered that way. So, instead of running all over town trying to find the best price for what we need, I was wondering if anyone has recommendations. How did you get the best price on your outdoor lights and/or where did you find the best selection for the money? Read about any upcoming sales/deals?

Thanks!

If you willing to skip it this year, you can get some amazing deals right after holidays. I bought first set at Target for about $14 and then second set right after Christmas for $3, huge difference.
Actually if you plan to have lights for a bit longer then Christmas, till NYE for example, you will still be able to use them this season.

Are you looking for 'regular' or LED? That's the first thing you have to figure out.

As to where to find them, here in the North East, every store in town sells Indoor/Outdoor lights. Walmart, Target, the grocery stores,Home Depot, CVS, etc. all some selection in various styles.

I think the thing that might be causing you grief is your desire to have white cords. Most of them (but not all) seem to be green. Could you live with that? I think most people here don't worry about the fact that they are green instead of white to match the trim on their house or their gutters. But I have seem white ones, too. As for price, they aren't that expensive. I think I paid less than $5 a string for 100 light strands last year at Walmart.

LED lights are becoming much more popular now, so that is probably the pricing you are shocked at. They are very expensive!

If you really need to have white wire, your choices will be much more limited. The only white wire colored bulb lights I can think of off of the top of my head are the Light Show ones which are one of the most expensive sets. I'm not 100% positive they are white wired, but I believe they are.

You could also try HolidayLEDs.com and maybe ChristmasLightsEtc.com

We have white trim on our house but will be using the typical green wire lights (Warm white LED C9 bulbs).

Some of the online stores you are able to pick out the wiring and light spacing you need/want, and then purchase the bulbs separately to create your own custom sets. That may be an option for you.
