We're shopping around for our travel insurance. Our extended health coverage will only cover 9 days and if you go over it is void! That figures! We're gone 13 days. :rolleyes2
We're looking for a family plan for a reasonable price. Anyone had good luck with rate while shopping around? Advice appreciated!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record you could try CAA. You don't have to be a member to buy insurance...the family plan is not bad...you pay for the parents and children are free.

We have just started selling manulife in our area on Jan.1 while the clubs in your area have been for awhile. It tends to be higher priced then our previous product but still lower than some. You could also check with your bank.

Have to agree with tmli...we found that CAA has great rates...we paid $124 for a year for a family of 4 (each visit to the U.S. was limited to 15 days)

I got a Family Plan for a full calendar year for $110.00 from Hepcoe/Meridian Credit Union (max 15 days at a time)

We just purchased extended medical from CAA and for the whole year for DH and myself, was only $138.00 total. Also what I like about CAA's insurance is that it is non-subrogating,and won't interfere with DH's company insurance which has a $70,000.00 lifetime cap. :sunny:

We purchased our last coverage from Sears Travel, the family plan for 8 days was $67,1 child under 12.

I use Sears as well - they use RBC insurance. I find them quite reasonable.

I have a BMO Mosaic mastercard and we get our health insurance through this for $69.00 a year for unlimited trips 17 days or less. We also get the travel insurance to cover any unexpected cancellations, baggage lost, trip interuptions, car rental insurance coverage etc. for an additional $49.00.

These are amazing rates and I have already once had to use the Trip Interruption and received my full airfare refund very promptly.

Just purchased RBC in December. $112.00 for annual family plan for 15 day trips. Unfortunately, we had to use it while at Disney. DD was in the hospital emergency for 4 1/2 hours, IVs, 4 meds. etc. I also got the "bug" but not so severely and went to a clinic. RBC was right on the spot and everything was handled wonderfully. We have previously always bought our insurance through CAA but DH is now 55 and we would have to buy three separate policies and the cost was much higher.
