Best pre-cruise overnight stay in Port Canaveral/Cocoa Beach

We will be cruising in September 2016 with 6 adults and 1 child and wanted to know opinions on hotels. Prefer one with complimentary shuttle and/or free breakfast. Any suggestions appreciated. Would prefer a place with a pool.

Most, if not all the hotels in the area have pools. Do you want to be on the beach or not? The three closest to the port (not on the beach) are the Country Inn & Suites, the Marriott Residence Inn and the Radisson. These are all within walking distance to each other. CI&S and MRI both have free hot buffet breakfast. I think some room rates at the Radisson include breakfast. Radisson has best tropical pool but we love staying at the MRI. Lovely suite rooms with full kitchens, nice pool, great staff. We have stayed at all 3 of these.

We have also stayed at the Doubletree on the beach in Cocoa Beach, Four Points Sheraton (worst pool IMO) next to Ron Jons and International Palms. MRI is still our favorite.

We've stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn before our cruise 2 or 3 times before we moved to Florida. The place is nice, the rooms are well laid out, and the complimentary hot breakfast is very good.

Thanks for the great info. How did you get to the port in the morning? We were considering the Radisson at the Port because they have a shuttle for $6/pp one way.

The hotel shuttle at any of those resorts works out just fine. However, you might also consider calling a taxi or uber depending on the size of your group and what your PAT is. Typically the hotel shuttles are big busses that leave at a specific time. Some folks might want to get to the port earlier.

We actually called the night before and scheduled a taxi for 10am(we were at the Country Inn and Suites, but preferred to go on our own). It was only $5 total to get to port for 4 of us and the taxi came right at 10am.

We always stay at Country Inn and Suites and cab or drive it.

We stayed at the Comfort Inn every year since it opened. Next year we reserved a room at the new Homewood Suites that just opened across the street. It was much less than the CI&S.

We've stayed at the Country Inn & Suites several times before our cruise and done their Park & Cruise deal since we drive down. You can call them the day before you arrive to book your shuttle time for sail day. We've enjoyed the hotel and the shuttle drivers are always nice & helpful.
