Best Poly Rate Dec 2004?

I'm totally bummed. Made the decision to switch ressie from CR to Poly for 1st week of Dec and when I called they only had rack rate available ( not even any AAA discounts available this far in advance). That is almost $100 more per night than CR and I don't think it is worth it, but I really would love to stay there.

For those of you who have stayed at the Poly the 1st week in DEc either last year or year before what is the best rate you've gotten and what are the chances to get those rates again this year? Are the discounts a fairly recurring thing year to year or are they completely random? And when do the discounts usually come out for that time of the year?

We picked the week after Thanksgiving because we thought it wouldn't be so busy but I'm starting to wonder if that is really so. We also thought that by picking an off season that we might eventually be able to get a real good deal on a room. What do you guys think?

Should I just keep calling and checking the websites?

Thank you for listening to my whining and any advice you may have.

Jackie

Jackie, I was honestly in the same boat as you are just a few days ago, except with me it was the GF and not the Poly, but I totally didn't understand how the AAA rates for the room that I wanted were gone THIS far in advance...My dates are a little later than yours (Dec.7-15). I will tell you though that I just called again yesterday and got the AAA rate (it's a guaranteed start) and it was 15% at that time of year! So keep trying and don't get too frustrated yet, things open up, believe me!
AP rates are also one of the biggest discounts and it looks like those are not released until a few months before the dates..

I booked at the Poly few weeks ago using AAA, AP rates come out around August. I'm curious what rate they gave you? Garden room AAA rate was
$289 or $293. I forgot.

We usually stay at the CR, first time at the Poly.
Hope the weather is nicer this year.

I just booked the Poly for Dec 6-10 thru AAA. I actually booked a package including 10 day MYW passes and the dining plan. When I broke it down, I think that our room portion is around $280/night including taxes. My AAA agent said she would be more than happy to apply any other codes that come out.

We've stayed at both Poly and CR and hubby & I loved the Poly but the boys unanimously agree that CR was better to them, lol. For $100/nt I wouldn't switch. I'm not certain about codes for everyone but we got an email rate of $209 w/check-in by 12/19.

Good luck. I don't think you will be disappointed with either resort.

Oh, how I would love to get an e-mail rate of $209. That is basically what I will be paying at CR, so I know that would be a great deal. I signed up for the vacation planning and they also have my e-mail from the reservation I made. Is it possible that they would e-mail me a code when I've already made a reservation? How does this all work?

Thanks again. I will definately call another CM to see if any rooms opened up at least at the AAA discount.

Just to clarify, your email code is good through Dec. 2005? The reason I ask is that I thought most current codes were good through July.

Thanks.

Sorry Dan, that was Dec 2004. We got the email rate in late August and already had reservations thru a TA so I forwarded her the email and she got us the rate. We had to change dates a bit as we were planning to arrive on 12/20 but the $209 per night was nearly half of the rack rate of $439 we were booked at so of course we jumped on it and added two nights to boot. That was the first time we have gotten an email code.

Okay, thanks. Thought for a moment there I was stiffed again. I still have plenty of time before I get stiffed!
