ETA: OOPS! Sorry. I just looked up to see the dining sticky at the top of theboard. I'll go read that now.

While at WDW a few years ago, we grabbed counter service meals for an early-ish lunch while in the parks.

Are there more recommended places than others are they all pretty equal? We'd be in the quest for kid friendly stuff, like chicken nuggets, pizza, hamburgers, or nachos.

Our favorite place for lunch at DCA is Whitewater snacks inside of the Grand Californian. It is almost always quiet in there and easy to find a table if you don't go right at noon.

We are not excited by Disney pizza or burgers. The chicken nuggets at the Golden Horseshoe or the Stagedoor Cafe in Frontierland are pretty good. If you like corn dogs, those are at the little red wagon at the end of Main Street near Plaza Inn. Whitewater Snacks, referred to by the PP, has nachos. I hear there are lobster nachos at the Cove Bar in DCA. Haven't tried either myself.

If you end up leaving the parks, the burgers at Jazz Kitchen Express in DtD are ok, and there also chicken nuggets there. Prices are reasonable.

Our lunch favorites are:

Disneyland - Cafe Orleans

DCA - Pacifi Wharf Cafe (the shrimp louie salad and chocolate chip muffin are yummy!!!)

Whitewater Snacks in the Grand Californian is fantastic! You can eat there even if you aren't a guest. We've eaten there for one dinner on each of our trips--it is a budget friendly meal that fills each of us up on fairly healthy food (well, depending on your choices!) There definitely are child-friendly choices there as well as inside and outside seating options.

Another vote for Whitewater snacks at the GCH...their nachos are wonderful really fresh chips wonderful flavor in the meat...really yummy! and while my husband & I had nachos my 6 year old was very excited with a lunch including an uncrustables PB&J with grapes juice and a chocolate milk. Our other recommendatin for lunch in Carnation Cafe, although it is a sit down meal it is affordable tasty and has the bonus that you can people watch on Main St while you eat at the outdoor tables. Their Baked Potato Soup is divine! and they serve their PB&J on an artist pallete to make your own which my son really enjoyed. After all the new & unusual food over this week these two meals were pure comfort food

Here are some pics of the food...From Whitewater snacks this is the steak nachos but I hear the chicken ones are wonderful too.

Have a great trip!

Thanks, ColtonsMom!
That is one good picture you posted of the steak nachos! :thumbsup2 You have convinced me to get it when I go this weekend. I'm always having the same thing (the chicken guacamole sandwich) that it's time to step outside my comfort zone.

Taste Pilot's Grill at DCA
Coke Corner or Redd Rockett's at DL

Ohhhh oohh!! DCA has the best food! Do lunch at the Pacific Warf, good sandwiches and soup in bread bowls! Or wine country trattoria has the most delectible food! The veggie panini is to die for! And they give you a small side salad with it, cesar I think it was, anyhow it's a ton of food!

Taste pilots grill--ribs and burgers!! soo good! and a toppings bar that is so fresh it makes captain kidd's look like something not so fresh!!

Captain Kidd's really needs no help in the not looking good part of the day. LOL their food is simply disgusting!

We like to eat at French Market in DL, we also like Rancho and RBT has great sandwiches!!
At DCA we really enjoy the dogs at Award Weiners, TPG is always good for us and we LOVE the lobster nachos at the Cove Bar!! The kids thought we were gross for eating them but maaaaaaaaannnnn they are goooooooodddd! :)

Thanks everyone! I'll check out those menus more closely but it looks like we have some safe bets.

Ok, I have a question, I have eaten at WWS allot. Now I have never considered that DCA … :confused3

We have met up with allot of friends for lunch and I always tell them, DTD, @WWS in the GC …

Just want your thoughts on that …

I have never considered WWS DCA since it is in the hotel, but we do eat there of and on because it is so close and never had bad food.

You are welcome! I do not think I will ever go to DLR without getting those at least once ever again! I kept wanting to go back to try the chicken ones but we were never over that way when we got hungry. We have decided next trip we will order both the steak & the chicken and share both. But ummm a Chicken guacamole sandwich sounds divine! The guacamole on the nachos was yummy!

I said I like to eat at WWS in GC. LOL - looking at my original post, I left out the "when" (meaning "when we are at DCA"). I didn't mean that to say it is located inside DCA. But location-wise, it is as close to DCA as the other restaurants and we always eat there if we are in that park at lunchtime.

Since the question was asked "where is the best place to grab lunch when in DL and DCA" - that is the answer I gave for DCA.

I'll be sure to proof-read my posts better from now on, to avoid drawing the scrutiny of the posters on the board ;)

Oh please … I was only asking because a number of posters stated WWS … and the OP had asked about DL and DCA …
