Since we live so close to the World, we don't often make specific plans for a meal. It's usually spur of the moment.
However, friends are coming down from Virginia Beach and will be at Disney over her birthday. Their tradition is to go out for steak or prime rib.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. They have plenty of time before their trip to make reservations if necessary.
They are open to going to resorts or restaurants in the parks.
I know of Le Cellier, but also know they are quite pricey and can be hard to get reservations for specific days/times.
Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend Yachtsman Steakhouse in the Yacht club resort hotel. It IS pricey but worth every penny. The meal is a true experience and service is outstanding!

Yachtsmans Steakhouse. But they can be pricey too.
Just went for DH birthday with my parents. We were worried about the cost because we knew DD would grab the bill. DD said nothing all week could compare to that meal. Whew!

You can get a great steak at Schula's or Yachtman's around the boardwalk. Puck's dining room (upstairs) in Downtown Disney has a great filet they do with a port wine sauce. California Grill in The Contemporary also has great filet, I usually ask them to pair it with the goat cheese polenta from their pork dish :worship: Narcoossee's has a pretty good surf and turf as well. I'm not sure on where to get prime rib, let alone good prime rib at WDW.

Last year we ate at Crystal Palace for Dinner and my husband liked their prime rib, I didnt try it. The Rose and Crown pub has steak and I love their steak sauce. Their are alot of restaurants in the hotels that serve steak. I would go to allears.net and look at their menus and reviews.

What about 'Ohanna a fun place for a bunch of people, many different meats and afterwords go down to the pool bar grab a drink and watch Wishes from the beach.
As for just staying with steak now this is for 1TS restaurants we always had a good steak at Le Cellier and Corall Reef has a good NY Strip and this past trip we had a very tender steat at San Angle Inn.

places that serve good steaks; California Grill, Jiko and Artist Point for example. Yachtsman is going to have a wider variety of choices.

While not cheap, if you really want a great steak and prime rib, I'd recommend Shulas. The prime rib there is one of the best I've ever had.

The only place I would recommend for prime rib is Shulas. While a bit pricey, it was one of the best prime ribs I have ever had. A buffet prime rib is nothing compared to a steakhouse. Also, Le Cellier's prime rib was not worth the expense or hassle of getting a reservation.

I'm a lover of prime rib, and my last trip i had it at a few places, but nothing was great (entirely edible, but nothnig to rave about)

by far Yatchsman was the best, the entire dinner was fantastic and the atmosphere made the evening even better
we had an early enough reservation that afterwards we were able to go the beach and watch some of the fireworks from illuminations

edit to add:

im not sure if yachtsman still carries prime rib, as there are conflicting menus floating around. however DF had the Filet (my 2nd favorite) and that was delicious as well

My best steak last trip was in France. So good. I do get steak everywhere other good places are
Maya Grill
Captians Grill
Cali Grill
Citricos

I like Yachtsman Steakhouse if you're wanting a good steakhouse, but they're not cheap either. There's really not any "cheaper" steakhouse type place on property anymore.... a few years ago you had the Concorde Steakhouse, but that's not there anymore.

While I think the filet at Yachtsmen was decent, you can get a decent filet at any of the signature restaurants. I have not been happy with my other cuts at Yachtsmen. I have had the New York twice and tried the Ribeye the last time and I was definitely disappointed for these 3 meals.

Thank you all for so many great suggestions and your personal experiences. I had no idea there were so many possibilities and I'll pass along all the information.
Cheers to you all!

Sandy
