best place to stay for someone in an ecv or wheelchair

Hi-

My uncle is coming soon from Japan & cannot do a lot of walking or climb any stairs.
Is there a hotel that any of you recommend for someone in a wheelchair or ecv? One that is easily maneuverable?
I was thinking he & my aunt would like to make sure that they have a bigger room w/a suite.

I remember that there is a monorail type system to take you down parts of the strip. Is it easily accesible for those in wheelchairs/ecvs?

any helpful hints or info would be appreciated.

More info from you will help planning. Like - what are your uncle's plans? Will he want to gamble mostly in the hotel he stays at? Would a smaller hotel/casino fit him better than say MGM Grand which is enormous?

The monorail is set up to handle wheelchairs (see the third link below). However, the walk thru the casino to the monorail which is behind the hotels on the East side of the strip can be quite a trek.

I don't have a lot to add. Do want to point out that, since most casinos are carpeted, an ECV would probably be easier than a wheelchair. If they'll also have a car, they'll want one that can be taken apart. Bell Services at their hotel can make arrangements.

A smaller casino/hotel would probably make more sense, be easier to get around. Do they want to stay on the Strip? Bally's is centrally located and has some relatively large rooms. The Venetian, slightly north, has larger rooms/suites, but to the best of my recollection there are some steps involved to get from the sleeping area to the living area.

Off-Strip, the Rio and the Orleans have relatively large rooms. Note that actual suites are a lot more expensive per night than a regular room. The monorail can get them from MGM to the Sahara, with a total of I think seven stops, but the monorail stations are set way back from the Strip, at the backs of the hotels and only on the east side of the Strip.

I think we'll try to rent an ecv that can be taken apart & stay at Bally's. It seems to be a monorail stop & it's located in the middle of the strip. I was thinking of venetian too but now that you mention the step up, Bally's seems a better fit for our purposes.

Every property has handicapped accessible rooms with roll in showers, etc. Ask if there are ground floor rooms that you don't need to use an elevator for. Two that I can think of are Luxor and MGM Grand.
