We are really hoping to stay on property this time since it's the first trip for 4 of them. Where is the best place to stay with that many people??

I know your trip will be magical wherever you decide to stay but there are a few things that I always think about before booking a trip. Do you want to stay together or in several rooms? The number of children/infants all impact your decision. Do you want a hotel room or a suite or villa? Do you have a budget?

Is 1 of the 10 a child under 3 by any chance?

The 2 BR Villa at OKW, in my opinion, will give you the best bang for your buck. It is super spacious, and sleeps 9+ a child under 3.

Maybe 2 cabins at Fort Wilderness?

Sorry yes actually 1 of them is a child who will be under 3.
2 parents, kids ages 23, 20, 18, 16, 13, 11, 5 & 2yo.
Would like to either stay together or be very close. No real set budget yet but the cheaper the better since we are footing the bill for everyone.

There are not too many places onsite that will accommodate that many people in a single unit. Your best option would be either a 3-bedroom grand villa at one of the DVC resorts or a Treehouse Villa at SSR. Regardless, they are not inexpensive options. You would get more for your money and have more room if you were to stay offsite in a rental home. If you decide to go with one of the DVC options, renting points is cheaper than going through Disney. And since Grand Villas and THVs are in limited supply, you would need to line up an owner around 11 months (or more) prior to your planned vacation.

Would you consider Bonnet Creek onsite? Not disney, but they have condos with up to four bedrooms.

Without knowing when you are planning to go, I would say you could look into renting points for a 2 BR at OKW. You all would just barely fit, but you would fit. You would be looking at about $450-$600 a night. Renting 2 Ft Wilderness Cabins would be similar, around $500-$600 a night.

If having a kitchen doesn't matter to you, you could look at 3 rooms at an All Star Resort, and you'd be looking at around $350 a night. I don't know if you are on the hook for meals as well, or if meals will be every man for himself. But, you would need to do the math to know if having a kitchen and laundry is worth the $$ you'd save in meals and well, laundry. For some, the answer is yes; some, no.

I would second looking at Bonnet Creek. The accommodations I would say would really work for you, and give you lots of room. You wouldn't technically be an on-site guest, but you would be right in the thick of the action. You would be inside Disney gates.

There is also the options of Suites at Coronado Springs or Art of Animation. Price-wise, I couldn't even guess.

Just keep an eye on the Disney resort discounts and Travelocity, and you may be able to find some deals.

We are a group of 8 going next year and staying on site. After looking at the options, we decided to get 3 rooms rather than a suite. It gives everyone a bit of privacy. But the deciding factor was the number of bathrooms. We couldn't imagine going a week with that many people and only one or two bathrooms.

Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas. We stayed there in 2011 for a grand gathering of 10. One, my daughter, was 2 1/2 at the time. We had plenty room and enjoyed the quiet after long days in the park. We also enjoyed the ability to cook and do laundry in the villa.
