Best place to stay at POR ?

My husband and I will be staying at POR next April 17-27. It's just the 2 of us and I was wondering where the best area to stay was. The Bayou or the Mansions? What section of either would be the quietest, yet not too far from everything? Near a quiet pool ?(are they really quiet?) I haven't requested a section yet. Also, I did request a King bed room, are all the King bed rooms handicapped? I did not need a handicapped room, I would prefer to have a bathtub.
Any help, suggestions or opinions on POR would be appreciated.:) Thanks

Although I have stayed at both, I prefer the Mansions. It just seems more romantic to me. I usually request Magnolia Terrace which is non-smoking either a garden or pool view.. Have gotten king bed as a free upgrade (never asked for it) and it was not a handicapped room. There is a quiet pool nearby but the walk to the main pool isn't too far.

You can't really request a king bed, you either pay for or it (it's actually a seperate, more expensive category) or get very lucky with an upgrade.

This would probably get a larger response on the resort board!

I've only stayed in AB, but DF and I LOVED it. It was very quiet and romantic and we were right by a quiet pool. It was behind the building we were in. I would request to not face a pool if you want quiet! We were really far away from the food court, but I didn't mind the walk at all. We were also close to a bus stop. Building 28 I think.

Our room was actually handicap accessible abd it had a bathtub. It had this cool little seat you could sit on.
Hope this helps! PM me if you have any questions!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm still confused however.
I am paying the extra for a King room. Maybe I should have waited and hoped for a free upgrade? I just did not want to chance getting 2 double beds. I wouldn't mind a walk to the food places as long as I get a quiet place. I would like a water view but not that of a pool. I did not request that however. In pictures I've seen of this resort it seems that the AB rooms are set in more shaded area (which I do like) and the mansions seem more out in the open. I can't help, however, to get the impression that the mansions should be more of an area for "couples" (romantic?) and the AB there would be more families with children. Would this be true? Any more suggestions would help. Thanks

We have stayed in both sections and are going back for 2 nights this August. We haven't requested any specific area this time. AB is much more rustic, both inside and out. The buildings are smaller and the quiet pools are nice. Yes, they really were quiet. It was a nice stroll from our room, bldg.35 I think, to the food court. About 8 minutes. When we stayed in the mansion section, we stayed in Magnolia Terrace. It was quite lovely. Much more romantic. Bldgs are bigger tho. The grounds are more formal as are the rooms. As far as a water view, I wouldn't set my heart on it. WE paid for a water view in Magnolia Terrace and had a tiny peek at the river, from outside our room. You couldn't see the water from inside the room.
So, my suggestion is to decide whether you want more formal surroundings vs. rustic. You really can't go wrong with either choice. It's simply a matter of taste. As far as families and children, we saw kids wherever we were. You might see a few more at AB since they are the only rooms in the moderates that have the opt. trundle bed set-up.
good luck in your decision making!!

We stayed in Building 27 in Alligator Bayou with the water view. We were on the second floor corner room. It was great. Looking to the right, the view was of the great big water wheel at the food court. To the left was one of the bridges that lead over to the main pool. Straight in front was the fishing lagoon and at night they would have a small campfire going and you could see people sitting around it. Ducks would swim by on the river but if you were on the sidewalk they would come out of the water to try and see if they could get a treat from you. I have posted some of the pictures on my webpage but, I do have some others that are not posted. Limited space.
