Hello!
We are sailing on the Fantasy in early March. We'd like to take our 8 and 10yo boys snorkeling for their first time. We will be stopping in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica. Are there certain excursions you recommend?
Thanks very much!

Grand Cayman. We particularly liked the Catamaran, Reef, & Kittiwake snorkel. I haven't really liked the snorkeling we have done in Cozumel. It's always been from a rocky beach and has been kind of cloudy. I don't think there's any bad snorkeling in Grand Cayman. Lots of fish and beautiful, clear, warm waters.

If you want to combine it with Sting Ray City on Grand Cayman, there are two excellent excursions offered by Sting Ray Sailing or Cayman Eco Adventures that include snorkeling after you visit Sting Ray City. Non Disney, but they monitor the Disney Cruise ships tender times, they plan your excursion around Disney tender times. One is on 40' private catamaran , the other on brand new "fast boat". We've done them each; can't say enough good things . Excellent knowledge of area, sea life, educational and safe as well Would use them again in a heartbeat. Our 3 daughters loved it (ages 10, 7, 7).

We did the Rum Point excursion on Grand Cayman and the snorkeling there is very family friendly (you can almost always just stand up). I saw tons of stuff including many types of fish, stingray, a barracuda, and even a lionfish.

For beginners, Castaway Cay is nice. My 5 yr old snorkeled at Cozumel (Chankanaab), cayman (starfish point and Rum point)and CC. She is a freakishly good swimmer, but was initially intimidated in Cozumel (first stop). Im sure there is a higher likelihood of unique sea life other places, but the snorkeling trail at CC is very user friendly. We bought the full face snorkels by tribord. They are expensive, but so easy for kids and I loved that we could talk to each other while we were snorkeling.

Thank you!
Yes, we rented snorkeling gear in CC when we sailed May 2015, and both boys took turns, but we are looking to do an excursion this time and hopefully seem some spectacular fish. Sounds like Grand Cayman is our best bet!!

Grand Cayman. We loved Stingray City... I guess it was not really snorkeling because you can't wear fins, but we saw tons of stingrays and other fish while we were anchored at Stingray City. The water is just gorgeous. I like snorkeling at CC too since there is so much time to do it .. in Oct I saw a pretty big sea turtle and a small shark (!!)
