I'm looking for suggestions for the most cost effective place to rent a car while staying on Disney property. I don't mind driving from the airport (MCO) if it is less costly. Should i buy online or wait and rent at the airport?

:dumbo::dumbo:

All of the codes that have gotten me good prices at the airport gave me the same base price at the Car Care Center, but I didn't have to pay quite as much in taxes at the CCC as I did at the airport. You also have the option of renting at one place and dropping off at the other.

We picked up at the CCC because we had a decent amount of luggage that I didn't want to have to deal with. So we took ME to Disney and the shuttle to the CCC a few days later, when we were ready to pick up our car. Since we did a split stay and moved offsite, we dropped off at MCO.

Definitely reserve ahead of time. Just showing up and renting at whatever the "rack rate" is will end up costing you 2-3 times more than reserving ahead of time with a good code and a coupon. Unless you go with a "pay now" rate or something like Hotwire or Priceline, you'll pay at pickup.

I've always found renting at the airport is cheaper and we return to the Car Care Center...National and Alamo are both EASY to rent, just pick your car and go. Right outside the door so no shuttle needed. I usually book online with a code from the Entertainment book.

You may also want to check out the Transportation forum on these boards. There are threads with helpful information about car rental discount codes and other information about how to find the best deals for car rentals.

We use www carrentalsavers dot com

Always the lowest price...they plug in all of the discounts for you. The rate can change daily, so keep checking. You can reserve and cancel as much as you like. We have always rented from MCO.

I have a Car booked at Alamo for November. Rates are high right now, I hope they drop. The lowest price I was able to get so far was at the Dolphin. Full size SUV for 6 days $275.00.

You can find more here, there are codes to use.

Yes - check that thread, the last few pages.

I just booked my Sept trip (it seems the closer you are, the cheaper it is)

I have a 14 day rental, for $180 w/taxes, etc. But I did use codes mentioned in that thread.

When is your trip?

Never wait to do a walk up car rental. They often run out of cars.

Car rentals are not always cheaper at the last minute. Go ahead and make a reservation now, then keep checking to see if prices drop. You can usually change your reservation without a charge.

go to mousesavers.com and hit the link for transportation (to the left of screen). This is the website I always use. It is updated continually with new codes.

I rented a car for 14 days for $8 a day. The tax was more than the base rental cost. The total cost for the rental was $229.38 for an economy car, and it ended up being with Hertz.
