Sorry if this has been asked a lot or is common knowledge, but where is a good place to refill before getting back to the MCO area? (THAT IS NOT OUTRAGEOUSLY PRICED!) I am renting a car, and my husband isn't going on this trip, so my 'navigator' is my 11 year old. i.e. I better know where I am going before hand!

And if anyone knows, how much are the tolls to get from MCO to WDW?

:thanks:

The tolls will come to $2 on 417 (Central Florida Greenway). As I recall, we took SR 536/International Drive to get to 417 and it was at an intersection with a traffic light where we would gas up on the trips we rented. The gas station is huge, on the right after the light, can't miss it, but I don't remember its name. Fill it up to the end of the stem, get a receipt just in case you're questioned about it, but the last few times we dropped off there was no issue. For one rental, I forget the company, I took the option of not filling it for a pre-determined fuel charge then drove to MCO on 1/8th of a tank. I don't know if we made out or they did, but it was worth it to spare the hassle on the last day.

When we were there last week, the Hess stations right on WDW property were the most reasonably priced stations around. We drove over to St. Pete for part of the time and the prices for gas in that part of the state were higher. So, I would just try to keep the tank full with Hess. Then, if you're like me and do a top off just before the airport, there is a station right off of the Landstar exit. I don't remember the flag -- maybe Marathon?

We actually flew into the Sanford airport for last week's trip, so it was a longer drive than to MCO. Our tolls on 417 to SFB were $5 - $6.

I TOTALLY agree with the Hess Station to refill your rental.

You would assume that gas on WDW would be more expensive, but since Hess took over, it has been the opposite. Hess is about 12 to 20 cent per gallon cheaper than the stations right outside of WDW and closer to the airport.

In the past, we have always refilled at Hess, drove to MCO and returned the car and not been hassled. But if they require a receipt, I like the idea of using Hess and then just top off anywhere close. It couldnt be more than a gallon or two.

Leaving WDW look for and take I-4 East, then change to 528 east (Beach Line; Bee Line). Get off 528 at its exit 9 Tradeport. Left at ramp bottom, cross under, nice cheap gas station is right there. After topping off get back into middle lane facing away from 528 crossing above, required right onto McCoy becomes Frontage Rd., then next light just over a mile is Semoran Blvd. (436) and airport entrance.

If you got all the way to the airport without filling up, don't use the expensive stations straight out the north exit on Semoran. Instead, leaving airport north exit, left at first light (Frontage becomes McCoy) curve to left and left at next light. Get immediately into right lane. Gas station I mentioned is right there. You can also use this route to Disney. With that gas station in the distance ahead, keep making lefts to get on 528 , then one 75 cent toll and get onto I-4 west.

If you get off the Beeline (Beachline now) onto 436, go past the service stations across from the Hertz and continue North for about a mile. You will see a Hess on the right that is usually normal price.

If you get off on McCoy road go to the racetrac or Shell station right next to it for the best gas prices.

I totally agree - when we were there in June, Hess was about $.20/gal cheaper than the ones outside Disney. I was surprised that anything would be cheaper on Disney property!

We usually go to the station across from Pleasure Island. Just be sure to fill it to the max. We never had a problem with less than a full tank at drop off. We don't station shop for the lowest price. Even if there was a $0.20 difference in price, it normally only amounts to an extra $4.00 presuming a 20 gallon tank fill up. Just not worth it. We get a Minivan or Premium SUV each time.
