I am in the process of programming our GPS for our trip next week & thought I could get some help from my DIS friends. Does anyone have the addresses of local grocery stores handy? Thanks in advance!!:thumbsup2

Publix Regency Village Shopping Center
8145 Vineland Ave
Orlando, FL 32821-6847
Main: (407) 238-9924

Driving Directions:

* Exit the Disney complex on Hotel Plaza Blvd (Lake Buena Vista) to 535, turning right on 535.
* Drive under I-4, turning left at the first light after you cross under I-4. This should be Vineland Ave.
* Continue on Vineland Ave, pass the outlet stores (nice center) and follow the signs to Publix.

I also use Publix's. It is more expensive then Walmart. We like it because it has more of a selection. We buy things that we don't normally do. Plus they have a good selection of Steaks to grill.

I also like Publix but LOVE Winn-Dixie! All of the stores in our area are closed now, but when we go to Disney I always go there when I need to pick-up something. They are cheaper than Publix and have a wonderful bakery and meat dept. As a side note...I buy groceries and plan & prepare meals before we leave to save time and money.:thumbsup2

Here is the address of the Winn-Dixie that I believe is the closest to the Fort but if not you can go to their website and it lists all of the ones in the area.

Winn-Dixie #2215
SHOPPES OF LAKE AVENUE
11957 SOUTH APOPKA VINELAND RD
ORLANDO, FL 32836

Have a great trip!:)

I agree W/D is a good store. If you go out the entrance to DTD and hang a left on 535 it's about a mile or so on the right. Wla-Mart is about the same distance but take a right. Goodings right across from DTD however is really expensive and not recommended.

The best to find a NON TOURIST Publix is to Turn LEFT from the Hotel Plaze and go up Apopka Vineland. Just a little bit past Bay Hill you'll see a beautiful and reasonable Publix on the Left side. It's fully stocked and at reasonable prices. It's about 5-6 mile from the Hotel Plaza.

For years (1980's and early to mid 1990's always went to the Publix right near the junction of 535 and 194 in Kissimmee) and really liked it. When the Super WM opened in the late 1990's right past Medival Times on Bass Road we started going there and around 2000 we revisted the old trusty Publix we had used before and were very disappointed in the selection and overall store. Now that a second Super WM has opened on 535 closer than either the older Publix we had used in the past or the other Super WM we have found that is a very good alternative. However, we bring all the good stuff from home and only use the WM for restocking basics such as fruit, veggies, basic meat and some canned goods. In an emergency there is always Goodings at the Crossroads and they do have a great bakery, but in general are really overpriced for general restocking.

A new find for us is that there is a really nice Whole Foods close by, not far from a Super WalMart. From DTD/Hotel Plaza Dr. headed out of Disney, take a left at the lights (Apopka Vineland?) Take a right at the next light which I believe is Palm Parkway. This turns into Turkey Lake Rd at some point and parallels Rte 4 all the way to Kirkland, up by Universal.

WalMart is a little more than halfway up on the left. Whole Foods is at the corner of Turkey Lake and Kirkland. From FW door to door it's probably 15-20 mins.

As an aside, if Rt 4 is backed up, Palm Pkwy/Turkey Lake is a great way to skirt the congestion to get to the other side of Orlando and you can get to Sea World and US/IoA from it.

The previous posters are so right about "goodings". OMG. We had two bags of groceries and it cost as much as weeks worth at home. TOTAL RIP OFF. We got suckered in because it was close to Disney.

Another "in a pinch" recommendation... Walgreens. Left out of Hotel Plaza Drive, straight through first light, keep an eye out on the left, it's not far (1/4 mile tops?)

Not only do they have standard Walgreens "stuff" at reasonable (i.e., not tourist) prices, but they have a pretty good "in a pinch" grocery section as well. They even had the "extra pulp" Tropicana OJ my uncle wanted. :goodvibes

Yummm, love the "Lots of Pulp" Tropicana!
