Best place to get coffee?

wwe just spent a week at AKL.
I brought my own frenchroast and coffee measure and filters and made my own best coffee. Asked for a coffee maker. they brought one packet of coffee, no creamers or any accouterments and made it clear they were not involved in the enterprise (Mousekeeping didn't even rinse out the pot.) wished i'd broght my own creamer of some sort so i didn't have to dash to mara, and could never remember to get some the night before.

i had the pressed coffee at Kona, Jiko and Boma. I regret to say that all 3 were way too weak for me, Kona in particular.

Erinch, what kind of coffee makers do they have at AKL? Are they cone or basket type, and are they four or 8-cup? Did they give you one packet per day, or just one packet all together? I gotta know, I gotta have my morning coffee!

ooooooooh, that *is* good news! :D Now, does the Dolphin have the refillable mugs, and if so, can I get this Starbuck's Coffee in it, as much as I want, for free while we're staying there?

Tubbi's has a refillable mug--I think it's $10. I know that it's for soda or coffee. Sounds like another great reason to stay at the Dolphin!!:p

WL concierge had very good coffee including the decaf. In the evening you can flavor the coffee's with the cordials that are placed out. My favorite was the Godiva Chocolate liqueur. :)

4 cup basket. one packet per stay; no condiments--no glass coffee mug either

i always pack my own ceramic mug, bring my own filters, coffee, measure the works :-)

i didn'te even try their package, but it wasn't a noticeable brand..

You are mighty serious about that java. LOL
I guess working in the medical field you get used
to the yucky stuff.
:earseek: maybe I'll check out the Dolphin for coffee.

Glad to hear a few options for decent coffee! I CAN"T do without my morning cup or I am not fit for human contact! Why can't they build a WaWa at WDW:) .

The Contemporary has a coffee bar where they will make all sorts of fancy cappa-frappa-double latte thingies. (It's on the first floor of the tower in between the elevator banks and guest services -where you check-in.).

OMG - I have never even seen this place when I've been in the Contemporary. That's craziness! Is it still there as of 2003?

I'm telling you one terrible place to try to get coffee is the MK. They have Nescafe junk and we were able to find like 1 (one) place that had Nescafe coffee shakes! Everything else is so perfect, how could they miss the mark on something so simple and essential? WHY DOESN'T DISNEY JUST GET A CONTRACT WITH STARBUCKS!!!???!!!

My advice; bring your own. You can get an in-room coffee maker almost anywhere (except the Grand Floridian!). Put some of your favorite coffee from home in a double-bagged zip-lock and carry it onto the plane with you (DO NOT put it in your checked bag as it can cause a "false positive" when they scan it for explosives, or so the latest advisories claim).
I did this over the summer, w/o any problem (carry-on). I prefer my coffee "strong", and am used to the independents on each corner here in So. Cali. I used to experience withdrawel symptoms in Fla., as the only other coffee house they had was "barnie's coffee" (meek). I came to realize...Floridians are not the powerhouse coffee-drinkers we are here in the West Coast.

This summer...I found a real starbucks in the Super-Target in Orlando, where I can at least grab some decent double-shots/cream (to go) and some espresso. ;) Or, even my fav...Mocha Frapp, Vent (x4S). Other than that...I just grab a cup of joe (Starbucks, as MUFFY posted) in the WDW Dolphin (Tubbies). Most all the Westins/Sheratons out here (West) serve this coffee in the rooms (packets!). Mmmmmm.

Other than that...the coffee bar in the CR across from the check-in/front desk is pretty decent. (oops...I just noticed someone else posted about this place--and YES, it's still there!). I tried a hot mocha (double espresso), and was pleased. It's hard to top some of the Columbian beans, or the Cafe du monde w/chicory! :)

Are you serious? :(

I'm there in November. This could be a problem.

Also. Can you buy Kona coffee beans at the Poly, by the pound?

"WHY DOESN'T DISNEY GET A CONTRACT WITH STARBUCKS!!!???!!!" THis is exactly what I kept saying the whole two weeks we were in WDW this summer!! The only time I had an EXCELLENT coffee was the morning we went to Universal Studios and went to the Starbucks in CityWalk! I am from the EAST COAST and we too have GOOD COFFE Shops everywhere! We got in from our trip about 11pm friday nite and by 9am Saturday I was at my local STARBUCKS! WDW TAKE NOTE!!! Joan:Pinkbounc

Does anyone know if the coffee makers are cone filters? Also, do we just ring up and ask for one to be brought to our room (we'll be at Pop Century)? Is there a fee for this? We were going to buy a cheapie one to bring with us in Dec, but if we can get one there, then we won't bother. DH only wants cone filters, though.....

Thanks in advance!
