Best place to food shop Hilton Head?

Hi
There was a grocery store about a mile before you get to the Disney resort. I think it may have been a piggly wiggly, but I don't recall. Also, another mile or so before that, there is another store but I don't know that name either.

There is a Piggly Wiggly close by. To me, the best place is the Publix just off the Sea Pines circle. There is also a Harris Teeter, Bi Lo, WalMart (not a super WM) and a WD. There is a second Publix on the right as you are driving on to the island by the WM and was a Winn Dixie on the left in the same area but with their bankruptcy, I haven't heard how that one faired. A second PW in Coligny Plazy. There's a Sam's in the same general area as WM. There is a Super WM just off I-75 but far off the island. And I also remember there was a Food Lion after you leave Sea Pines circle going toward the Toll road.

There's also a Fresh Market nearby. I know it's not an economical choice for the regular grocery shopping, but there are lots of "vacation-worthy" special things there!!!! (We have a Fresh market in our town so we occasionally spoil ourselves.)

Publix!!! And if your kids like chicken tenders, be sure to pick some up from the deli there---they are delicious. The Publix by the Wal-mart is a bit larger in size and selection, FWIW.

New this summer: a neat looking gourmet shop and restaurant at Plantation Center in Sea Pines. It's quite large, includes a big wine selection, plus lots and lots of interesting food items for sale---most out on shelves but also some fresh entrees and items in a big deli case. Worth checking out if you like that kind of thing--I know I do! They also have wine tastings on Friday night along with some special activities during the week.

One thing I like about Publix is that you do not need one of those 'preferred shopper' type cards to get all of the sale prices.

Just checked wegoshop.com and they will have service available in HH beginning Sept. 1, 2005. Yay! :cool1:

The Fresh Market will not be cheap, but you are on vacation. Their meats are the best that a grocery store will have. And the produce is local with the farm information available.

I also like Harris Teeter, but it is not like the Harris Teeters in my town. All the food stores in HHI are kinda dirty and small compared to what I have in my town in NC. there is also a Bi-lo, Publix, and a Piggly Wiggly.

I prefer Publix-there's one by the WalMart and there's one by Sea Pines Circle. We've gone to both depending on where we're out and about, and like them.
