Best place to eat at Epcot for first time visitors?

There is so much to choose from at Epcot, but I think that what you want to try may depend on what you have available at home and how adventurous your palate is...pirate:

We come from a rural area, so we really enjoy restaurants that we have no access to at home, like Teppan Edo in the Japan pavilion. If you have a tepanaki restaurant at home, then it might not be as special for you.

At home we DO have a really great Chinese restaurant, so when we ate at Nine Dragons last year it was an enormous disappointment. It pretty much sucked to put it bluntly. Somehow i thought that Chinese food prepared and served by people brought in expressly for that purpose would be authentic and extremely good. :confused3Nope. Nasty and would never go there again.

One of our favorites is Akershus for dinner. We enjoy the cold Norwegian appetizer buffet(many different assorted salads, cheeses, breads, gravlax), and usually choose a fish entree and have never been disappointed. It makes sense that Norwegians know how to do fish really well, right?:goodvibes We love the desserts there too. We're planning on eating there for my birthday this year an I can't wait! :cloud9:

The Biergarten is good, not as good as Akershus, but good and being a buffet, almost everyone can find something they like. The entertainment is a lot of fun as well.

Enjoy your trip!

Oh boy there are so many places to choose from! It really depends on what you're exactly looking for!

Engaging Experience - Teppan Edo
Incredible Italian - Tutto Italia
Scrumptuous Steak - Le Cellier
Fantastic French - Les Chefs de France / Bistro de Paris

Akershus is interesting but we avoid princesses. If you like good beer be sure to stop at the British pub. You might want to check out the Italian or German restaurant if you like that kind of food. Le Cellier is very popular and some day I will figure out why. ;)

We really like San Angel Inn. I know a lot of people complain about the food, but we have always liked it. The setting is very intimate and the ambience is very good. We also like Rose and Crown as well, the English restaurant and pub.

I vote Coral Reef or San Angel Inn. The food is good at both and the ambience is awesome. Although ....if purely for ambience and a first timer's perspective I would go for Coral Reef.

There is so much to chose from and I would look at the menu and see what your group would enjoy. My husband and I love Chefs de France.

Le Cellier for sure. Do the adults like characters? I like the Garden Grill (not for characters) as it rotates through the Living with the Land ride. Food is average.

We loved lunch at Tangierine Cafe last time (it is a CS).

We also loved dinner at Biergarten (German buffet with some wonderful entertainment). We're going back there for dinner again in July!

Places we are trying for the first time on our July trip (3 Epcot days):

1. Akershus lunch
2. San Angel Inn lunch (or maybe just margaritas and apps at Cava del Tequila ;))
3. Le Cellier dinner
4. Chefs de France lunch

We don't go to the Chinese, Japanese or Italian places. We have great Chinese food here and ALWAYS eat it, so we don't eat it on vacation; we have hibachi and excellent sushi here and eat that all the time too; we're Brooklyn Italians so we try to avoid Italian food on vacation (it usually disappoints us). I have considered Tutto Italia since it is run by Italians, but a friend of mine didn't like it last summer and we have very similar tastes in Italian food. She knows me well, and she thought it would disappoint me. I don't feel like I am missing out. Oh well...maybe on a future trip for lunch for something simple like caesar salad or panini.

No need to skip a restaurant just because there are characters. If you let your server know you'd rather not see them, they can tell the Character attendant and the princesses will be MORE than happy to let you alone and visit the Guests who wish to visit instead.
The food at Akershus is too good to pass up for something silly that can be avoided anyway. Unless the cost is the issue. I wish it wasn't so pricey to eat there now because my hubby is a server there and we love the food!

We ate at Akershus very often before it was turned into a character restaurant. Silly or not, we didn't like the change and we don't go any more. Plus they got rid of Ringnes. :sad2:

Maybe I should relax my stance... Or not. ;)
