Best place to buy your american dollars?

We do all our banking online via virtual banking so we don't have a home branch anymore. Can people let me know where they purchase their american money for their trips. I am trying to compare different choices to try and find the best one i.e. the cheapest! Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

I am fortunate to have no fee exchange included in my monthly banking fees so, even though I too do all of my banking on-line, I make a special trip into a branch to exchange currency..

...check your banking package, you never know!

I get mine from the Currency Exchange place in my office building. I always assumed they were more than the banks, but I have compared numerous times and they are always about 2-2.5 cents better than the banks.

I don't know where you live, but you might find luck at one of them. They usually update their rates throughout the day so you can sometimes pick up a nice mid-day bump in rates too.

We got a good rate at Calforex recently. Normally we just do it at our branch however.

I exchange my money at MoneyMart they are usually cheaper than the banks.

Yeah I find Money Mart is usually pretty good or Continental CEx in the malls is good too. I hate my usd bank account so many fees and a horrible exchange rate after this trip I am closing it.

Shop around. Also, be prepared that not all bricks and mortar banks exchange currency. Depending on how much you need, you may have to phone the bank and give them notice.
