Best place to buy new lens??

We are going to be in Disney for Thanksgiving and I'm looking to get a new lens for my Nikon D50, can anyone tell me if someone is having a sale or if there are any vouchers I can use to get a good discount?

What other lenses do you have? Why do you want a macro lens to take to Disney? I think sigma lenses are pretty good, not as good as Nikon but for about 1/2 the price, it's a decent lens.

To answer your original question, Nikon's website sometimes has discounts listed for lenses. Other than that, check out the major retailers like bhphoto.com and adorama.com.

i'm from the UK so it's not so easy to buy off the internet from a US site and not end up having to pay UK duty.
I've looked on Ritz web site and I'm hoping to vist their shop at the Florida Mall, I wondered if any locals could reccommend any other outlets.

Take a look at the Tamron 90mm f/2.8 Macro. I got mine, a used copy, from KEH.com. The newest version is the Di. Most reviews say it is optically as good as the Nikon 105mm f/2.8, though without VR. My copy is sharp as a tack. I'm very happy with it. New copies are around $400 or so. Used can be found for under $300.

For Orlando area, make sure you stay with a major retailer like a Ritz, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. There are many scammers in the area and they love to scam people from outside the US the most.

I would not count on too many lens sales b/c that is the real money maker of the sale. The deals are usually on the bodies. You also do not qualify for rebates, which is how the manufacturers usually offer discounts.

another option would be to buy online and have it shipped to you in florida...

odds are ritz won't have a lens like that in stock, they tend to stock more common lenses... and a lot of quantary stuff..

Cheers Guys I have had problems in a shop on the 192 trying to sell me normal polarising filters when I wanted circular.

I will be looking in Ritz and best buy and hope they have one. I don't think they will take my crdit card details from endland and shipo to US for credit card fraud reasons.

Wish me luck and I'm sure I'll find some bargains, just maybe not my 105 Macro.
