Best place for sailing away?

That depends on what you want to see. As you sail away there is the sail away entertainment Deck 9 mid ship. If you want to see the port and people waving I would say deck 10 forawrd or starboard. Deck 10 is also great if you wan to look down on the sail away party. :boat:

I must say, you are truly a wealth of information. I really appriciate how attentive you are to the boards, always answering my silly first time cruiser questions. Thanks!!!! :cheer2:

I do not think your questions are silly and I glad to help. It is kinda paying it forward. I have learned so much from these boards. When are traveling to the port? :boat:

We are flying in on the 27th. I am hoping there will be no snow delays. My DB is coming from upsatate NY and, well I wish I could say we get know snow but this area just got between 4 and 15 inches the day after Christmas.

If your kids want to see the party on the stage & like to dance, then get there early & stand near the railing. That's where I always go with the kids. They get to see the characters. DS loves to dance along with everyone & DD prefers to just stand & watch & is out of the way in the front. DH stands off to the side to tape the show and then goes up on deck 10 to get video of us sailing away.

Anywhere you are is great as long as you can hear the ship's horn and see the ship beginning to pull away from the port - MAGICAL!!!

We were on Deck 9 in the middle of the party - kindof hard to dance and hold a video camera at the same time. Maybe I'll send DH up to 10 with the video camera next time!

Also - for kids that are sensitive to loud noises - the blasts of the ships horn (other than the "when you wish upon a star" part) are SUPER LOUD! So be prepared to cover their ears.

These are great tips. My son is sensitive to loud noises, so it's good to know it will be loud!

Faireygod Mother - we are heading down to FL on the 21st of Jan - we'll stay at my sister's in N.C. for the weekend before we head down to WDW. We're just doing one day at MK and staying at Shades of Green. I think we'll be on your cruise on the 27th?

We have went forward on deck 9 to just watch the ship leave. We have been able to see a pod of dolphins on 2 of our cruisees as we were leaving. You can also see cape canaveral to the north and a US Navy nuclear submarine is also berthed on the way out on the north side. It has been there on 3 of our cruises.

But then again there is the sailaway party...

deck 10 offers a better "overview" of the festivities at the deck party....Get there early so you get a good spot....right after the safety drill

If your DS is sensitive to noise, just take ear plugs for him so the music doesn't bother him either. It can get pretty loud.

When we set sail with our almost 4 and 2 yr olds(they turned 4 and 2 a couple of months after we returned), we were on deck 10 right above the Sail Away party. They loved dancing, and looking out at the water (were were on the port side), and I didn't have to worry about them getting out of sight in the busy party below. We had a great time! We will be taking them back this Sept and they'll be almost 5 and 3 LOL and I plan on doing the same thing again!
