We'll be at DL in October for my 4yo daughter's B-day, and I'm trying to decide where to have the party. There will be mostly adults along with my daughter and possibly one of her friends. I'm trying to decide between Ariel's Grotto which would be at 12 noon with only outside seating available includes, visits by princesses and meals for $20-30 per person.

OR

Park Plaza Inn, which would be at 2:00pm, includes Pat E. Cake (host) party hats, souvenier cups, individual cakes to decorate for each person, party music, and Mickey and Minnie appear at the end. This will cost $15.99 per person.

Has anyone done either of these? All input and feedback will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

we did bday party at plaza inn last year but it was cheaper they raised prices now. We liked it my son had fun.
but if you go to Ariel's Grotto you get a full meal and make sure tell them its her bday and you could order the bucket for 22dollers for princess bucket and small cake. (were doing this at goofys this year for my son)

Both are decent for birthday's but im with bumbershoot on this one. Ariels for sure.

Ariel's Grotto, call DD and ask them if you can add a b-day bucket to your ressie. She will get a small castle shaped bucket (just a cylinder with a pointed top decorated like a castle) a pin, a few other little trinkets (DD8 got stickers and a hairbrush set) and a cake on top. We did breakfast and they brought the bucket out at the end.

Thanks for everybody's input, I'm leaning toward Ariel's Grotto right now, but the lady said currently they only has the special bucket with Mickey not the princess one. She said they may have the other bucket in October since they are on order now, do you think that the Mickey bucket would be good for a girl, if you've seen these buckets before? Maybe, I could get a cake at the bakery, mainstreet, or somewhere else at DL instead. I could kinda customize a "bucket" and bring it with me to Ariel's, if the Mickey bucket is more for a boy.

Also, has anybody dined outside at Ariel's Grotto before? I'm wondering if the weather in mid-October at noon would be a little chilly outside. Again, thanks to everybody for your input diser's are the absolute BEST!!!!! :goodvibes

the new food looks better then before too

Are you talking about the food looking better at Ariel's? We've eaten there a few years ago, and then it wasn't the greatest, although I know we're really there for the princess experience anyway.

they changed the menu
and mickey is the boys one tho i know some would get it for girl its sourcer mickey and has a little plush and pin and cake.

Glad to hear that they changed the menu at Ariel's a few years ago it wasn't the greatest as I remember. Can I see the new menu posted somewhere?

As with all things "for boys", the Mickey bucket would be just fine for girls, too.

Seriously, the little comb and brush in the princess one is for baby hair, not 4 year old hair (unless she has baby fine hair), and the magnet dress up doll thing is like paperdolls but with magnets, and as a kiddo I would have preferred a plush Mickey! :)

bumbershoot, that's good to hear, I'm sure she'd love a Mickey to play with...decisons, decisons....I just want her to have a special b-day and like most little girls she loves the color pink. So not sure she'd be thrilled with a Mickey bucket that I can only assume is blue, right?

Has anyone seen any pics of these buckets posted on disboards before, the search feature is not helping me at all with this, although, the problem could be with the "searcher" not the search itself! ;)

Just to throw my two cents in: I would do Ariel's she'll love the princesses,Pat E. Cake was fun but I dont think it was worth 16 bucks a person. We paid like 12 for that last year.

Yeah and the new menu looks better...we were gonna do the breakfast but now its lunch so we can see if the food/dinner our ressies are at 3:00 PM.

Anyway I know there were some pics a while ago or you might be able to find one on the Disney site...

JadeDarkStar, Thanks for the links, the buckets look cute...I'm sure that she would mind the Mickey one...if that's all I can do.

Also, the menu really has changed at Ariel's Grotto, not sure if it's better or not...but it's totally different for sure.

I'm going with Ariel's Grotto for her b-day, it's interesting that it's $2 cheaper per meal to eat outside, I wanted to eat inside, but outside was all that available on the day we needed, so every little bit saved helps.

Thanks to everybody for your input!

yw ya i like the changes we changed from am meal to lunch now becosue i see stake

We did outdoor seats there in....I think it was April......the weather was nice enough, but in October last year I carried a jacket with me. Just a sweatshirt but it was nice to have. :) You know, I should have gone with the Mickey bucket, I think my DD8 would have liked a lot more. DD12 didn't want one, she said she was too old. :( I let her pick pins instead. :)

I'm guessing that they don't have the buzz bucket anymore? I know my boss would have loved the buzz ones!!
