Best... Park,Sleep,Fly Out of Detroit Airport

We are flying out of Detroit the Thursday before March break, (12th). When I try to look up rates for the Fairfield for the Wed night, I get a rate of 165.00
with parking. Alot of people seem to get 109.00. Any suggestions?

I just punched in your date (checking in March 11) and got $129 and up. Make sure you use code PKF (for park & fly) in the "Promotional Codes" box. The rate may be slightly higher that week because of March break.

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn. Decent rooms, comfy beds. Room plus one week of park & fly was $108 with tax. We have stayed here twice actually. Shuttles were on time and not over crowded. Short ride, 5-10 minutes. Park & fly was security patrolled. Not a lot of restaraunts around but there is a Bob Evans, chinese? and a McDonalds. The continnental breakie leaves something to be desired, but don't they all really?

The pool is over 3ft deep so my kids couldn't swim because we didn't have their life jackets. Both times we were there the pool was so crowded we didn't want to anyway.

A lot of travel agents in our area (london) have a deal with the Detroit airport hotels. They can get a cheaper rate. Try asking one of your local agents what they can come up with. This trip we paid $94 plus tax which included park & fly.

How did you like the shuttle service for Airlines parking?

We didn't have any problems at all. We've used them 3 or 4 times and have been really impressed. There's always been many yellow busses coming in so there seemed to be any crowds of people. We parked at another lot (can't remember the name - across from the Metropolitan) and we had to wait for 45 minutes for a shuttle, so Airlines was much better for us.

We stayed at the Ramada Inn with the Park and fly package, on the internet the rate was 89.99 for 4 people in a room. Thought I would book over the phone and things just went down hill. The girl got our last name wrong on the res, totally not all her fault as the phone connection that day seemed to be off badly. Anyway, she would not give us the room for 89.99 and was charged 108.99 , then when we got back to the car , we had just gone over the 7 days and had to pay another 9.00 for the day at the car lot. Don't think we would bother to park off the airport again, so cold getting to the lot after being in Florida.

Thanks ... I think we'll try them again. And maybe next time we just need to be more pushy putting our luggage onto the van, 'cause once it's on there, they pretty much have to take us. :rotfl: And I do agree, the shuttles kept coming ... we just couldn't manage to get one. ;)

I checked out the prices for the Big Blue Deck and at $16/day, it just seems really expensive.

If we only need airport parking and no hotel room is "airlines parking" or "quick parking" the way to go ?
Is one better or more secure than the other ?

We usually park at "big blue deck" but the prices have gone up to $16/day. For 9 days parking, it would cost us half the amount to park at one of these other lots but I feel very unsure about them. :confused3

I liked Airlines, don't really remember Quick. I think Airlines will have a coupon on their website too, so check that out to save a little.

I thought Airlines Parking seemed VERY secure. Well lit, shuttles driving around it all the time. And yes, their website has a coupon for $10/day including taxes. But also has a weekly rate of $55. :goodvibes

Do you prebook parking using the 1-800 number, do it online, or just pay when you arrive using your coupon. Thanks for all the information :)

last year we stayed at the Ramada. It was well worth it. The rooms were large and very clean, beds were very comfortable and they had extra pillows. The continental breakfast includes sausage, eggs ect. not just the basics. You sleep the night before and drive your vehicle over to the parking lot the next morning...the shuttle comes right to your vehicle to pick you up and they are quite promt about it. The shuttle was waiting for us when we returned after midnight at the smith terminal to take us back to our vehicle. We were very pleased and will definitely use the Ramada again.:thumbsup2

We also stayed at the Ramada last year. We took our car over to the Airlines lot the night we arrived, the shuttle took us back to the Ramada even though it was directly across the street. We took the Ramada shuttle to the airport. They were out of vouchers for the parking so when we returned to Detroit we had to call for the Ramada shuttle to pick us up, take us back to the Ramada to get the voucher and then they called Airlines to pick us up and take us over to our car. The return part was a bit of a pain but we would definitely stay there again. The Airlines parking lot was very secure and the drivers were awesome.
